Today marks one year since the passing of Master Police Officer Dale Barbiea, and his memory still lives on with the members of the Bowling Green Police Department.

No matter the situation, whether it was a high-stress incident, daily tasks, or his own battle with cancer, one of Dale’s favorite sayings was always, “cowboy up, hoss.”

Today, and every day, we will continue to “cowboy up” in his memory while reflecting on his friendship, service, and the lasting impact he made on our department and community.

We miss you, Dale. Your legacy lives on.

We are thankful for the work our officers do each day to serve the Bowling Green community.

During Adam Shift briefing, Chief Delaney recognized two officers for their outstanding service.

Officer Julio Delgado received a Chief’s Coin for his work investigating and solving a series of burglaries at a local apartment complex.

RAD Officer Melissa Bailey was recognized for reaching a recent career milestone and for her continued commitment to the community, including being named a Hughes & Coleman Hometown Hero.

Congratulations to both officers, and thank you for helping make Bowling Green a safer and stronger place to live, work, and visit.

H.D. Carpenter Park was the place to be tonight as the June Community Block Party brought neighbors, families, and city partners together for another great evening.

From dance-offs and hot dogs to kids checking out emergency vehicles, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Anytime we get to team up with our friends from Parks & Recreation and the Bowling Green Fire Department, it’s bound to be a good time.

A huge thank you to Public Works for their support, Commissioner Beasley-Brown for all of your help and to our friends from PBC Elementary for helping clean up the playground at the end of the night.

And to our friends from NCS who couldn’t make it this evening, we missed you and look forward to seeing you next time!

July 9th is the next block party!
