Moral Chain of Custody is a collaborative music project brought together by Bowling Green musicians Billy Mack Hill and Jeff Smith. Throughout two albums, they invited a multitude of musicians to collaborate, record, and perform these songs, starting the moral chain. These albums were handed out to the public for free. Listeners were encouraged to pass along the albums, to “experience and circulate” as the back of the album artwork encouraged. To continue this chain of custody, the Kentucky Museum is hosting an afternoon of free musical performances at our 2026 Sonic Festival. On November 7, the family tree that made Moral Chain of Custody possible is being reunited. Starting at 2pm come enjoy the musical stylings of Johnny Thompson, Dan Dilamarter, Billy Mack Hill, Ned Hill, Tina Simpson, and more. We hope to see you there!

The KY Museum is a wonderful classroom! Every week, professors from multiple departments bring their classes to the KM.

This week, Professor Bohlander led her Sociology 100 students in applying classroom concepts at the museum. In addition to Sociology, we also welcomed Art and Education classes this week.

Día de los Mu***os is finally upon us, and we would love to have your help make this year’s holiday shine brighter than ever before! 💀 ❤️

The Kentucky Folklife Program in partnership with The Kentucky Museum and the Department of Society, Culture, Crime, and Justice Studies is proud to announce the return of our Día de los Mu***os Community Ofrenda for the 2026 Fall Season! 🦋

We are thrilled, and very thankful to be able to display our community ofrenda for the fourth year in a row. Our 2026 Día de los Mu***os Community Ofrenda will be on display here at The Kentucky Museum on WKU’s campus from Wednesday, September 30th through Saturday, October 31st, 2026.

During museum hours (Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm CST) community members will be able to visit our interactive community ofrenda on display. An ofrenda (otherwise known as an altar or an offering) is a traditional space in which communities celebrating Día de los Mu***os can add photos, art, and items of remembrance for loved ones and pets that have passed on.

If you would like to loan an item(s) of commemoration for a loved one and/or pet to be displayed on the Ofrenda, either email our Folklife Specialist Camille: [email protected] or please fill out the Google Submission Form found in this link and in our Bio:
