What an incredible start to the 2026 Brownwater Expeditions Adventure Camp season!

This weekend, campers traveled from Evansville, Indiana and Morgantown, Auburn, Bowling Green and Danville, Kentucky to challenge themselves, build new friendships and develop skills that will last a lifetime.

Over the course of the weekend, each camper successfully paddled 8.2 miles on the beautiful Barren River, demonstrating perseverance, teamwork and confidence on the water. Campers also earned certification in Stop the Bleed, gaining lifesaving skills that could one day help save a life.

Our adventures continued on the trails of Lost River Cave, where campers used practical land navigation skills including pace count, shooting an azimuth and navigating from point to point using a compass. These hands-on experiences challenged campers to think critically, work together and trust their training.

As the sun set Saturday evening, campers gathered around the campfire to enjoy s'mores, fellowship and devotional time. Through discussions on holistic leadership principles, they explored what it means to lead with character, integrity, service and resilience. Throughout every activity, campers practiced Leave No Trace ethics, learning how to responsibly enjoy and protect the outdoors for future generations.

At Brownwater Expeditions, our goal is more than outdoor recreation… we strive to develop confident leaders, capable teammates and responsible stewards of the outdoors. This weekend's campers rose to every challenge and represented their communities exceptionally well.

Thank you to our campers, families, volunteers and staff who made this unforgettable adventure possible. We can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

Members of the Civil Air Patrols Paducah Cadet Squadron, Fort Campbell Composite Squadron and family members participated in CPR and AED training last night in Paducah. Topics covered included Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED operations and techniques for mitigating choking emergencies.

For CAP members, this training serves as part of their progressive emergency services development toward Ground Team qualifications. Their next step in the training progression will be attendance at a Standard First Aid (SFA) course, further expanding their ability to safely respond during emergency services missions and community support operations.

The training provided participants with hands-on lifesaving skills designed to increase preparedness and confidence in responding to medical emergencies within their homes, communities and unit activities.

One week remains before registration closes for the Brownwater Expeditions Adventure Camp, and once registration closes, we will not be able to accept additional campers.

This camp is intentionally limited to just 24 participants to ensure a highly personalized, hands-on, and impactful experience for every camper.

Scheduled for May 29–31, this youth adventure camp is designed for students currently in grades 6–12 and focuses on providing a true traditional camp experience—unplugged, outdoors, and full of adventure.

Campers will experience:
• Kayaking and canoeing on the Barren River
• Guided hikes and outdoor exploration
• Team-building activities and challenges
• Leadership development through shared experiences
• Campfire camaraderie, teamwork, and lasting friendships

At the center of this camp is the concept of Holistic Leadership—developing confidence, resilience, character, teamwork and purpose through outdoor adventure and meaningful connection.

For JROTC students, CAP cadets and other youth leaders, this is also an opportunity to step away from uniforms, ranks and daily structure to simply relax, recharge and enjoy being kids while continuing to grow as individuals.

With such a small group size, every camper receives a high-quality, immersive experience that larger camps simply cannot provide.

Registration is filling quickly, and once spots are gone, they are gone.

Tonight was one of those reminders of why we do what we do.

Angela and I had the privilege of teaching an Adult, Child and Infant CPR & AED course—along with choking response techniques—to the cadets, adult leaders and family members of the Louisville Cadet Squadron in Louisville, KY. In total, 24 individuals took a step forward in their ability to respond when it matters most.

This wasn’t just about checking a box. We worked through real-world scenarios, practiced hands-on skills and built the confidence needed to act in high-stress, life-threatening situations. From recognizing cardiac arrest, to performing effective CPR across all age groups, to properly using an AED and responding to choking emergencies... each participant left better prepared.

That’s 24 more people who could step in and make a critical difference for a friend, family member or even a complete stranger.

Proud of this group for leaning in, asking questions and taking the training seriously. Readiness isn’t accidental—it’s built.

If you’ve ever considered learning CPR…don’t wait. Someone’s life may depend on it.
