What an incredible start to the 2026 Brownwater Expeditions Adventure Camp season!
This weekend, campers traveled from Evansville, Indiana and Morgantown, Auburn, Bowling Green and Danville, Kentucky to challenge themselves, build new friendships and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
Over the course of the weekend, each camper successfully paddled 8.2 miles on the beautiful Barren River, demonstrating perseverance, teamwork and confidence on the water. Campers also earned certification in Stop the Bleed, gaining lifesaving skills that could one day help save a life.
Our adventures continued on the trails of Lost River Cave, where campers used practical land navigation skills including pace count, shooting an azimuth and navigating from point to point using a compass. These hands-on experiences challenged campers to think critically, work together and trust their training.
As the sun set Saturday evening, campers gathered around the campfire to enjoy s'mores, fellowship and devotional time. Through discussions on holistic leadership principles, they explored what it means to lead with character, integrity, service and resilience. Throughout every activity, campers practiced Leave No Trace ethics, learning how to responsibly enjoy and protect the outdoors for future generations.
At Brownwater Expeditions, our goal is more than outdoor recreation… we strive to develop confident leaders, capable teammates and responsible stewards of the outdoors. This weekend's campers rose to every challenge and represented their communities exceptionally well.
Thank you to our campers, families, volunteers and staff who made this unforgettable adventure possible. We can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
