This week at TLC:

Infant/toddlers--the color yellow. They played with yellow playdough and threw yellow confetti. Their sign for the week is the color "yellow."
Hug Bugs--Beach and ocean. They enjoyed throwing beach balls and playing in a sandy, sensory bin. Their sign for the week is "dad."
Busy Bees--Space. Did you see the planets taped to the floor? The children used these for jumping practice. They played with moon dough. Their signs for the week are water and drink--expecting those to come in handy as our outside time increases.
Little Rascals--Knights and dragons. On Monday, they played in a big heap of shaving cream, looking for hidden dragons. They also matched shields by color.

With much gratitude to our families who sold Charleston Wrap products last fall, we recently purchased tandem tricycles for the Hug Bug and Busy Bee and Little Rascal playgrounds wtih the proceeds from this fundraiser. And, we express gratitude to Joelle Dixon who assembled these tricycles. Super fun!!

This week at TLC:

Infant/toddlers: Over and Under. They played outside today and went under and over things. They ate breakfast outside and thought that was so fun. Their signs for the week are over and under.
Hug Bugs: Bugs. They matched bugs to the bugs' shadows today, a beginning math skill. They also made bugs out of playdough.
Busy Bees: Superheroes. They made their own superhero today and bowled as superheroes, knocking over the villain bowling pins.
Little Rascals: Camping. Tomorrow, they will follow picture directions in making s'mores and then cook and eat the s'mores.

Information about a free heart check for youth

We are honored to bring this FREE Youth Heart Screening to Eolia, MO in memory of DJ Chastain. 🧡

Thanks to the generous support of Devon's Beat, kids and young adults ages 8–25 will have access to a more complete heart assessment that includes an EKG, echocardiogram, blood pressure check, and cardiologist review.

These screenings are designed to help find hidden heart conditions that may not be detected during a routine physical.

What a stormy, rainy day! I hope you are dry and safe.

This week at TLC, we are providing child care only--no preschool or van routes. Preschool resumes Tuesday, May 26. I am working on van routes now and hope to call all of you who have children we transport tomorrow with schedules.

We are making a request that our families send their child or children to TLC in something other than Crocs or sandals. We know Crocs are easy. We know sandals are cute in summer. But our staff has noted that children fall or trip so much more in these sorts of shoes than when they wear tennis shoes. We do not like using Crocs as water shoes as they are even more slippery when wet. Please, no Crocs or sandals.

Recently, a few of our families have picked up their children after 5:30. Even if you walk in the door at 5:30, our staff has to stay late so you can pick up your child and get his or her things. A few minutes may not seem like a big deal to you but it is to us. Our staff have plans and obligations after work. When you are late in picking up, it sends a signal that your time is more valuable than theirs and that is simply not the case. And, we charge extra for those who are late. We close at 5:30. Please pick up your children before that. We reserve the right to decline to provide child care to any family who picks up late.

Dates to note:

Friday, May 15--Friday, May 22--No preschool. No vans.
Monday, May 25--Memorial Day. TLC is closed. We will not be here and neither should you.
Tuesday, May 26--Preschool resumes for summer, Monday-Thursday. This is what we call Extended School Year (ESY).

At a minimum, the state requires ninety (90) college semester hours and Eighteen (18) of the ninety (90) hours must be in child-related courses OR thirty-six (36) months experience and eighteen (18) college semester hours in child-related courses.

Please remember to move your clocks forward this weekend. Adjusting to the time change is always a challenge for our students (and some of us!).

The Little Rascal fundraiser ends on Tuesday. If you want to order Butter Braid pastries, cookie dough or pizzas, let me know and I will send you a link to order.

Wednesday, February 25--Tuesday, March 10--Little Rascal fundraiser through Show Me Dough. This is for the Little Rascal class only and helps us to fund a graduation field trip and a graduation celebration. If you have not tried a Butterbraid from Show Me Dough, you are missing out on a delicious pastry. If you do not have a Little Rascal but would like to support this fundraiser, just let me know and I will hook you up!
Monday, March 16--TLC open for day care only. No preschool. No van routes.
Friday, April 3--TLC closed for Good Friday.
Monday, April 6--no preschool. No vans. TLC open for day care only.
Tuesday, April 7--photos for Little Rascals and Infant/toddler room.
Tuesday, April 14--Photos for Hug Bugs and Busy Bees.
Thursday, May 7--preschool graduation for Little Rascals at 6:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green Church of the Nazarene. We have this graduation in May because some of our students do not come to summer school and we want them to participate in the graduation. Most of our students will be here for the summer in spite of "graduating."

The Community State Bank donated a book for every one of our students. We put them above hooks or in cubbies this morning. This past Monday, staff from the bank came to read books with the children.
