Friday was my last day working at The Learning Center. It has been my honor and complete joy to work with our children, our families, our staff, our board, our partner agencies and our communities for over twenty years. TLC is now serving children of children we served when I first began all those years ago!

I continue to be amazed by what happens at TLC: so much care, so much learning, so much creativity, so much intention, so much fun, so much love. At every turn, we have asked "But, is it good for the children?" I hope our families have felt that guiding principle.

Thank you, thank you for your kind and generous support through the years. When we see each other out and about, I will be glad to hear updates about your children. They will always be "my TLC kids."

I know that Trisha will lead TLC with passion and commitment. She has already formed some goals and I am excited for TLC's future. Please support her as she gets settled and moves TLC forward.

With a full and grateful heart,

Rebecca Millan Glenn

Shout out to Mike Ingram Plumbing! We came in on the first day of school to water leaking from our ceiling. We called Mike before he was open and he made sure to get someone out here ASAP so we could start school with out a water leak. We appreciate you and your team!

We had so much fun today welcoming Brandy Harrelson to TLC to read the book she has written: The Day My Dog Got Loose. Our students enjoyed the book and talking about their own pets with Brandy. The book is available on Amazon if any of you are interested in purchasing it. TLC purchased a copy for each room so you may be hearing about it from your children. Brandy is a speech and language pathologist. In the back of the book, she included information for families about how to help children build their vocabularies and improve communication skills. We love having authors visit!

Under a grant through the Water Infrastructure and Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN), TLC recently collected samples from our water fountains and faucets. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services assisted us in testing these water samples for lead. We received the results today and, as we expected, TLC's water is safe to drink. While we did not expect any other results, it was welcome news.

The Learning Center is pleased to announce that Trisha Brooks has accepted the position as Director. She will start in this position on August 17, 2026.
Trisha Brooks grew up in Bowling Green, Missouri, graduating from Bowling Green High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from the University of Missouri—Columbia. Following that, she earned a Master of Arts in Licensed Professional Counselling and School Counselling. She is certified by the state of Missouri in career student services for grades K-12.
For two years, Trisha worked as a paraprofessional for the Bowling Green R-1 School District. She worked with students on the autism spectrum, implementing Individual Education Plans and accommodations for students.
When Trisha obtained her school counsellor certification, she worked for the Louisiana R-2 School district and Hannibal Public School District as a school counsellor. She supported students’ academic achievement and social-emotional well-being, collaborating with families, teachers and administrators. She helped students with conflict resolution, coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
In addition to that experience, she has served as a Respiratory Therapist for Hannibal Regional Hospital since 2013.
Trisha is married to Philip Brooks and they have three children. All three of her children attended The Learning Center so it is a familiar place to her.
We are so glad to welcome Trisha Brooks as the Director of The Learning Center.
The Learning Center’s present director, Rebecca Millan Glenn, will continue serving TLC for a period of time as she trains Trisha in the position.
