Did you hear? We have some news to share - join us at the kick off at Northwood Local Schools this week!
After nearly two years of planning and partnership, we are excited to take the next step toward opening a school-based health center here in Northwood.
Northwood Local Schools and the Wood County Community Health Center began working together in the fall of 2024 to explore how greater access to healthcare could benefit our students, families, and community. What began as a feasibility study has grown through the work of an advisory committee, feedback from parents, staff, and community members, and a shared commitment to bringing healthcare services closer to the people we serve.
On Wednesday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m., we will officially kick off renovation of space at our Arts, Athletics, and Administration Building, 700 Lemoyne Road, for the future Northwood Community-Based Health Center.
For Northwood, this partnership connects directly to one of our three district priorities: Student Well-Being. Providing healthcare services on our campus can help reduce transportation, scheduling, and other barriers that sometimes make it difficult for students and families to access care.
We are grateful to the Wood County Community Health Center, our advisory committee members, staff, families, and community partners who have helped move this project from an idea to construction.
Staff, families, community members, and partners are welcome to join us on October 7 at 10:00 a.m. as we celebrate the beginning of this next phase. If you are unable to attend, there will be a ribbon cutting event in early 2027 when the site is completed.
We look forward to sharing more as renovation progresses and we move closer to opening the center in 2027.
