The sun is setting on our first week with the gates closed since summer began… but not for long!

With schools back in session, things looked a little different around Russell Sims this week. After a summer filled with splashes, slides, sunshine, and plenty of smiles, the waterpark got a few quiet days.

But the weekend is here, and we’re ready to make some noise again!

We’re back OPEN tomorrow from 11 AM–7 PM, so come spend your Saturday soaking up what’s left of summer with us.

Summer showed up one more time! ☀️

We wrapped up our final Summer Block Party at H.D. Carpenter Park with an evening full of games, activities, and plenty of time to connect with neighbors.

A big thank you to our Neighborhood & Community Services Engagement Division, BGKY Parks and Recreation, and the Bowling Green Police Department Community Engagement team for working together throughout the summer to bring these events directly into our neighborhoods.

The block parties may be over for the season, but building connections with our community happens year-round! 💙

Sometimes creating joy is as simple as listening to a dream and finding a way to bring a little piece of it to life.

We loved spending our Sensory Swim mornings this summer with our friends from Med Center Health Adult Day, and we knew we wanted to make the final one of the season extra special.

During one of their visits, a participant told Recreation Manager Cameron Levis that she hoped to visit Hawaii one day.

His response?

“We can bring Hawaii to you!”

And that’s exactly what we tried to do.

We ended the summer with a Sensory Swim Luau complete with leis, tropical fun, plenty of time in the water, and a whole lot of smiles. Watching everyone enjoy the morning was the perfect way to close out a summer that has meant so much to our team.

This is why community partnerships matter. They create opportunities, build relationships, and sometimes give us the chance to turn an ordinary Tuesday morning at the pool into something that feels a little more like Hawaii.

A huge thank you to our friends at Med Center Health Adult Day for spending the summer with us. We’ve loved every minute of it.

Our mission at BGPR is to create memories that last a lifetime, at the park! And we pursue that mission one person and one smile at a time!

The Bowling Green Fire Department’s 2025 Annual Report is now available.

Our Annual Report serves as a highlight reel of the past year, showcasing the work, accomplishments, and improvements made to better serve the Bowling Green community. It also provides a transparent look at gaps in our performance and opportunities to improve.

We hope this report offers insight into both the service and professionalism of our personnel and the progress made within the Department in 2025.
