It’s great to be part of another Wood County collaboration. While attending the Troy Township meeting to discuss the current collection of levies, I had the opportunity to sign the big check and the little check presented by the Park District to the Stony Ridge Civic Association, a recipient of the local park improvement grant. It’s great to see entities working together for the betterment of the citizens.

Approximately 7,000 Homestead Exemption renewal notices are being mailed to eligible homeowners throughout Wood County. Residents need to complete the application ONLY if they have any changes to report that affect their homestead exemption. If no changes have occurred, there is no need to return this form. Please call the Auditor's office with any questions at 419-373-4917.

Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Wood County for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2024. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Auditor Matthew Oestreich has received this award every year since taking office in 2018. He states, “This achievement represents the collective effort of an incredible team committed to transparency and serving the public with integrity. This high level of financial reporting has become the standard for Wood County, and although the members of the team have changed over time, the same level of dedication continues.”

The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report conforms to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The report contains basic and supplemental financial statements and other financial and statistical information which provide a complete and full disclosure of all material financial elements of Wood County.

The Auditor’s office uses the ACFR to produce a yearly Citizens Report, which is a brief and easily understood financial summary of the county’s revenues and expenditures as well as statistical information about the county and the local economy.

It was an honor to speak at the Chessie Circle Trail ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the completion of Phase One of this multiuse trail in northern Wood County. Wood County Park District continues to accomplish great things for our community through collaboration and partnerships!
