Fire Prevention Week is wrapping up, but safe charging habits matter all year!

Caroline Fire and Rescue reminds our community: “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

From phones and tablets to power tools, e-bikes, and scooters, be mindful when charging batteries big and small:

✅ Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
✅ Charge on a hard, flat surface—keep devices off beds, pillows, and couches.
✅ Unplug devices when fully charged.
✅ Stop using batteries that become very hot, swell, leak, smell strange, or make unusual sounds.
✅ Charge larger items outside when possible, and keep exits clear.

Small actions can help prevent a big emergency. Make safe charging part of your family’s everyday routine!

Caroline County Fire & Rescue is proud to recognize FF/Medic Skyler Bowles, FF/EMT Matthew Harper, and FF/EMT William Papierniak for their recent delivery of a baby while on shift! 👶🩷

Each member was presented with a Pink Stork Bar in recognition of their quick thinking, dedication, and commitment to providing care when it mattered most.

Today, Caroline County Fire & Rescue honors the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago.

On that morning, firefighters heard the call and did what they were trained to do. They ran toward the danger. They climbed the stairs, searched for the lost, rescued those they could, and put the lives of others before their own.

Their courage continues to inspire firefighters and first responders across the nation.

We also remember the EMS providers, law enforcement officers, military members, civilians, and the countless families whose lives were forever changed that day.

To the 343: Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Your service will never be forgotten. Your names will never be forgotten.

And to the men and women who continue to answer the call today. Thank you for carrying the torch, serving your communities, and honoring the legacy of those who came before you.

From our department to yours, we honor the brothers and sisters who gave everything.

🚒 Caroline County Fire & Rescue was proud to host a Firefighter I class. 🚒 Thanks to the Virginia Department of Fire Programs , we were able to bring together dedicated volunteer members from stations and departments across the region to learn, train, and strengthen the skills needed to serve our communities safely and effectively

Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for providing an opportunity to recognize our first responders and their outstanding work!

Crews from Station 1 B Shift, along with PHI Air Care 2, were recognized for their teamwork and exceptional care during a pediatric traumatic incident. Thanks to their combined efforts, the patient has had a positive outcome.

We are incredibly proud of our crews and the difference they make in our community! ❤️
