Richard Greis was a humble hero, an expert mechanic, and the life of the party. As a life-long volunteer fireman, Rick touched countless lives, mostly mere strangers to him. Today and everyday, we rally around Rick’s family during this difficult time.

On May 28, 2021, Rick’s sudden and tragic passing left his family and friends devastated. Rick left behind his wife, Mary, Daughter -Jennifer, Son - Joe and his soon to be daughter in law Dana.

Rick was a member of the Benevolent Association and a Life Member of the Alden Hook and Ladder Fire Company, where he was Fire Chief for many years. Rick also held many other rankings over his decades-long career serving the Alden community. He loved camping, hiking and hunting. Rick was a "Fixer of Everything" and a "Master of None".

On June 19, 2021, Rick’s family, friends, and fire community will come together to honor and celebrate his life as well as his steadfast dedication to serving others. Rick came to the rescue for countless strangers. Any questions, please feel free to send me a private message.

Rick’s community will never be the same without his service, skill, and dedication to others. We thank you in advance for showing your support for the Greis family.

Most importantly, we thank you, Rick. We will take it from here.

Yesterday evening Lancaster Ambulance, along with Bowmansville Volunteer Fire Association and Millgrove Volunteer Fire Department were alerted to the NYS Thruway for an EMS call. The situation was dynamic with changing events during response. It quickly turned into a multi-jurisdictional event involving Clarence Fire Company, Clarence Center Vol Fire Co., Twin City Ambulance Corporation, Mercy Flight, Erie County Sheriff's Office, and New York State Police. The team work of multiple agencies made for the best outcome of a serious situation. Good job to all!

Appointments for tomorrow (January 21) and Friday, January 22 will be met as our Health Department has enough doses on hand to complete all scheduled appointments.

Getting a hold of someone in regard to the vaccine is impossible. I have a second appt scheduled and I NEED to speak to someone (I don’t know who) but I just have a question!! Please!!!!
Happy New Year to all of you. I wanted to ask about the proof of employment that is needed to receive vaccine at your location. I manage a private practice, and most of my staff have made appointments on line already. It says to please bring "agency provided documentation and agency ID". We do not provide our employees with ID badges. Will a recent paycheck stub and photo ID be enough? I called the Erie County Health Department and they couldn't tell me if you would accept that and told me to contact you.
PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE: Hi Bowmansville family! We are having a parade for the baby and jack as they both have milestone birthdays during quarantine! The baby will be 1 and jack will be 5! You all know jack LOVES fire trucks and people so I’m asking if you can be a part of this parade! We will be meeting in the south lancaster high school parking lot at 5:45-5:50 for a 6 o clock parade. Let’s make this birthday one he can remember. We were in a friends parade and he loved it. We can’t party like we want to but we can make lots of noise and celebrate that way! Let’s do this! Drop a comment if you are able to be a part of his and the baby’s special day! Thank you so much!
I would like to thank my brother and sister firefighters for their best efforts last night on Genesee. Although not a save, the family truely appreciates your rapid response and hard work! Thanks again
I’m pretty quick to label young kids useless because of their actions, but I will definitely take a moment to recognize one of our explorers . This young lady rode her bicycle at 3:45 am to make the truck for an ems call in 23 degree weather. That’s one hell of an example of dedication. Rachel Kedzierski you should be proud of your sister Anya kedzierski
This is from a friend. So I have my grandpa Dress Fireman coat from when he was chief in 1977 for the Buffalo Fire department.. i feel bad cuz it just sit in the closet.
