Bowmansville firefighters were alerted for smoke in the house around 2:30 this morning, and follow up calls reported a basement fire. Upon arrival, there was smoke showing from the basement and the eaves of the structure. Firefighters worked quickly to stretch a line and get water on the fire, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the house. I am happy to report that the family dog was also rescued and is alive and well. Great job to all crews!! Special thanks to our mutual aid partners for your assistance.
