Therefore we are announcing our 2020 Summer FF1 Bootcamps and we will start to take applications at this time. We need this time to put together the rosters and get everyone organized. Please read the schedules and student packets at https://www2.erie.gov/fire/index.php?q=resources#ROSTERS before choosing between the 2 Bootcamps to make sure you are able to participate 100%. Congratulations Dan Chudy

Congratulations Brother Dan Chudy on successfully completing your Aerial Operator Third Party Testing!

Throughout the course of a career, a firefighter reaches several milestones; promotions, certificates, awards to name a few. Becoming a Ladder Truck driver is one of those major milestones for some. We are proud of the work you put in to achieve this goal!

Well done Brother, keep up the strong work. #Local2598

The Bowmansville Volunteer Fire Association is committed to providing EMS and Fire Service to the residents and businesses of our Fire Protection District. There have been many changes to our operation but we continue to serve our community. The leadership of our Fire Department is in constant contact with Local, County and State Officials and receives the most up to date information available regarding this pandemic on a daily basis. We continue to work with our partners Lancaster Ambulance, Lancaster Dispatch, Lancaster PD, and our mutual aid partners to bring you the best care and safety.

During this time of uncertainty we ask if you require an ambulance, for any reason, please be patient with the dispatchers at our local dispatch centers. The dispatchers will ask a series of questions that allow us to better understand your medical needs and the required levels of protection that are needed to keep everyone in the community as safe as possible.

Depending on the symptoms that are described over the phone, when arriving on scene our crew may be in full protective equipment including masks, goggles and gowns. Please don't be alarmed by this extra layer of protective equipment, this is to protect you, our responders and the community as a whole.. They will enter your home as quickly as possible while making sure that extra precautions are taken and the equipment is correctly and safely put on. Once our first responders are on location they may ask you the same questions that were asked by the local dispatch center and request that you go into greater detail when answering. This is to ensure that the first responders on location have all of the correct and most up to date information regarding your incident and that it is handled safely for everyone involved..

Most importantly for the safety of the First Responders if you have already tested positive for COVID-19 or have had contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID -19 and are now in need of hospitalization we kindly ask that this information be transmitted to the local dispatch center when placing the call as well as to the representatives of every First Response agency that you encounter when rendering assistance to you or anyone with you. This is to ensure that you receive the most appropriate care in regards to your situation and to ensure that we keep our first responders safe to handle other emergency calls going forward.

Our volunteers are working hard to stay safe and continue to provide care to our community!

Thoughts and prayers to the Trzewieczynski family and the LPD. Leon was a good friend to many! RIP

We are saddened to announce the passing of retired Town of Lancaster Police Department Captain Leon Trzewieczynski. Leon served the community as a police officer from 1980 - 2003. During his time with the Police Department, he worked a crisis negotiator, patrol lieutenant and patrol captain, among other duties and assignments. Leon was also a graduate of the F.B.I.'s National Academy.

After retirement, Leon was active in the drum corps community and had recently moved to California. He always enjoyed visiting with family in New York and Louisiana.

Leon is survived by his two children, Ariel and Jason. Jason is currently a police officer in Fremont, California.

A local memorial service is planned at a future date to be announced, and will be posted here.

We express our sincere condolences to Captain Trzewieczynski's family.

The fire service is truly one of the most noble callings and we who have been fortunate enough to call our brothers and sisters family are blessed beyond belief. However, this blessing does not come without sacrifice, work, humility, and dedication, and it must be earned each and every day, every shift, ever yearโ€ฆ even into retirement!

STAY FIRED UP, and count your blessings and earn your place like itโ€™s your first day on the jobโ€ฆ every day.

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE: Hi Bowmansville family! We are having a parade for the baby and jack as they both have milestone birthdays during quarantine! The baby will be 1 and jack will be 5! You all know jack LOVES fire trucks and people so Iโ€™m asking if you can be a part of this parade! We will be meeting in the south lancaster high school parking lot at 5:45-5:50 for a 6 o clock parade. Letโ€™s make this birthday one he can remember. We were in a friends parade and he loved it. We canโ€™t party like we want to but we can make lots of noise and celebrate that way! Letโ€™s do this! Drop a comment if you are able to be a part of his and the babyโ€™s special day! Thank you so much!
I would like to thank my brother and sister firefighters for their best efforts last night on Genesee. Although not a save, the family truely appreciates your rapid response and hard work! Thanks again
Iโ€™m pretty quick to label young kids useless because of their actions, but I will definitely take a moment to recognize one of our explorers . This young lady rode her bicycle at 3:45 am to make the truck for an ems call in 23 degree weather. Thatโ€™s one hell of an example of dedication. Rachel Kedzierski you should be proud of your sister Anya kedzierski
