We expect temperatures early Saturday morning to drop into the 30-40 degree range for most of the area, which will mean a patchy frost is possible in spots. If you still have sensitive plants outside, the graphic tries to paint a picture where frost could be a little more likely, but please remember that no map is perfect, and we're still looking at data days in advance. Be sure to check us out on the TV side later with more on how things are looking locally, and the latest on Melissa. -DK

With heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of our dear friend and former leader, Jere Smith.

Jere served our department with unwavering dedication for 12 years, holding the positions of both President and Vice President. He was a friend to everyone and worked diligently to improve the fire service at Fort Perry.

Even as his health failed him, his spirit and commitment never wavered. We are forever grateful for his service, his kindness, and his lasting legacy. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Today, our department stands in solemn remembrance of the lives lost 24 years ago. We pay tribute to the heroes who ran toward the danger—the 343 firefighters, the law enforcement, and all first responders—whose bravery on that day continues to inspire us.

Their legacy reminds us of the profound meaning of service and sacrifice. We will forever honor them.

Join your Ft. Perry Volunteer Fire Department for our annual Turkey Shoot and Breakfast on Saturday, November 8th!

Breakfast (7 AM): Hunters, come fuel up! 🍳 Our homemade sausage biscuits & coffee will be served starting at 7 AM—the perfect start before you head out for your morning hunt!

Turkey Shoot & Lunch (Begins 10 AM): Bring the whole family for friendly competition and community fun! The Turkey Shoot begins at 10 AM with chances to win a turkey or ham. Hotdogs, chips & drinks will be available for purchase at $5.
