๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Todayโ€™s the day, Boyd ISD! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›
Vote for growth. Vote for spaces built to last. Vote for Brighter Boyd. ๐Ÿ

Hereโ€™s what this bond delivers for our community โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿซ Relieves overcrowding: classrooms built for 350 now serve 500+.
๐Ÿ’ก New Intermediate School designed for 600 students, modern, secure, and built for collaboration.
๐Ÿšซ Avoids costly portables: ๐Ÿ’ธ Portables cost about $1.2 million, pulling from funds used for teacher pay, staffing, and school upkeep. Plus the added expense of another school resource officer. And remember, portables donโ€™t include spaces for science labs, art, or cafeterias.
๐ŸŽจ Permanent classrooms mean full-sized spaces for science labs, art, and cafeterias that portables canโ€™t provide.
๐ŸšŒ Saves nearly $1 million a year by bringing Special Education services back home to Boyd instead of paying outside districts.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Keeps resources focused on teachers, students, staff, and school operations, not diverted to temporary portable buildings.

โœจ For residents 65+: this proposal has no tax impact ๐Ÿ™Œ. With a homestead exemption, your property taxes are frozen by state law, and this bond will not raise your taxes above that frozen amount.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ For everyone under 65: this bond makes a big difference! Without it, students will continue to feel cramped, and as Boyd grows, future generations will face even greater crowding. This bond ensures more space, more safety, and better learning environments for all. โค๏ธ

Together, this bond supports todayโ€™s students, prepares for tomorrowโ€™s, and strengthens our entire community. ๐ŸŒŸ

โœจ Did you know? โœจ
Right now, Boyd ISD buses Special Education students outside of the district ๐ŸšŒ

With the proposed bond, that would change. ๐Ÿ’š

Special Education students deserve to learn close to home ๐Ÿก not be bused to another district. The bond provides safe, permanent classrooms for all right here in Boyd ISD.

๐Ÿ’ก What this means:
โ€ข Keeps Boyd students learning locally in Boyd ISD ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“
โ€ข Saves nearly $1 million per year ๐Ÿ’ต in Special Education transportation & outside education costs
โ€ข Reinvests those dollars back into our Boyd schools and our studentsโ€™ education ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Because every student deserves to belong right here at home. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š

Great information!

This bond proposal will have no tax impact on residents 65+ because seniors with a homestead exemption have their property taxes frozen by state law; this proposal will NOT impact seniors above their frozen amount. You can learn more about the bond proposal at https://www.boydisdbond.com/

Clarification on the Bond on the November Ballot.

The bond provides funds to build a 600 student Intermediate School that will open with Grades 3-6. Looking at enrollment trends and projections based on a demographic study 3 years ago, our enrollment in Pk-4 has exceeded the projections. This year the Intermediate School exceeded the projections slightly. The High School is below the projected enrollment. This year we moved PK over to the building that houses the Head Start to allow for staffing in K-4. When we look at the added capacity of the new school, we meet our needs based on projections through the 2032-2033 school year. The demographic study took into account all developments that were under consideration three years ago. We know that proposed developments can change which would result in changes to our projections. It is possible that additions, restructuring grades, or remodeling may have to be considered in 7 or 8 years. This additional campus will bring the total capacity to a point where it will meet the needs now and in the immediate future. The comments on overbuilding now would place a higher tax burden on existing residents and based on state law we have a limit on the dollar amount of the bonds that we can sell. The current plan recognizes the growth for the next eight years and corrects overcrowding in our current Elementary campus.

The infrastructure in the bond allows us to complete a new road from County Road 4576 to SH 114. It also will add overhead water storage needed for fire protection and complete the water loop back to the corner of Knox and Cemetery Road. The first phase of the road will start construction this fall using funds from the May 2024 bond.

Architectural plans for the new school have been completed and construction could begin as early as January if the bond passes.

If we are not able to build an additional school then we will have to start planning to add portable classrooms starting no later than the 2027-2028 school year. Portable buildings would be funded from the operating budget which results in looking at reducing services, programs and staffing.

We will host a Question-and-Answer session on Sunday September 7th at 4:00p.m. at the Boyd High School Library. We encourage anyone with questions, concerns or suggestions to attend.

Enrollment and Projections

Boyd Elementary School is beyond its capacity. The current elementary school was built for a capacity of 350 students. More than 500 students currently attend the school. The 2025 Bond would construct a new 600-student intermediate school to relieve overcrowding. You can learn more about the bond proposal at https://www.boydisdbond.com/
