"Reentry For All" is the service motto of DOCR's Detention Services Division Reentry Unit. We serve both the sentenced population and the pretrial population waiting court appearances. These populations require different approaches and we simultaneously strive ensure information and services are available to address the full range of individual needs each member of the population presents. Additio

nally, the spirit of our work is to provide comprehensive reentry services and support to returning citizens as individuals, as members of their families, and as members of our community. "All" represents everyone in our population we want to provide information and services to as well as "all" the individuals returning, their families, and the communities they are returning to. Our Facebook and Twitter sites provide a unique opportunity for our reentry staff to stay connected with our customers as they return to the community and for us to be simultaneously used as a continued resource for them and their families for helpful resource and service information. We want to keep in touch, so please stay connected with us !!!

"One of my loved ones is experiencing domestic violence. How can I help them?"

🟣 Approach them in a confidential manner, and in a time and place away from interruptions. Start by gently talking about what you have observed. Listen to what they have to say.
🟣 Be supportive and listen. Believe them. Give them time to open up. Ask them how you can help.
🟣 Do not make victim-blaming statements. Refrain from telling the victim what to do.
🟣 Help them create an emergency response plan by leaving a change of clothing and medications at your house, arranging a signal with neighbors to alert them to call the police (eg: flickering an outside light), and sharing a code word with you to alert you to call the police.
🟣Refer them to the Family Justice Center where advocates can provide immediate support.
