Virginia is preparing for significant changes to Medicaid work requirements. Now is the time for our local community to be part of the conversation.

We encourage our community organizations, employers, workforce partners, educators, service providers, and other local stakeholders to participate in this upcoming planning session.

This is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, share what you’re seeing locally, and help identify the resources and partnerships our community will need.

Strong local partnerships will be critical to successful implementation—for you.

Don't leave your SUN Bucks on the table! ☀️

Your SUN Bucks benefits will expire 122 days after being issued, but a reminder letter will be sent to your address on file a month before they’re removed from your card. If your SUN Bucks were added to your SNAP EBT card, those benefits will automatically be used before your regular SNAP funds.

This month, the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services joins family, friends, and our community in celebrating an extraordinary milestone—the 100th birthday of Ms. Rosa Lee Williams Stone. 💐

One hundred years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy.

It is a century of love given, lives touched, families nurtured, wisdom shared, and countless deeds that have left an enduring mark on generations to come.

In recognition of this remarkable occasion, Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Jennings had the distinct honor of reading a resolution from the Board of Supervisors commemorating Ms. Stone’s 100th birthday and celebrating the remarkable life she has lived.

Pictured here is a beautiful centenarian whose life continues to radiate grace, love, and blessing. Ms. Stone has produced multiple generations of love through her family, her example, and her deeds. At 100 years young, she continues to bless those fortunate enough to know her.

Her legacy is beautifully reflected in her daughter, our esteemed Mecklenburg County Board of Social Services Vice Chair, Ms. Corrine Walker. Ms. Walker, too, is a precious gift to our community—carrying forward a tradition of compassion, commitment, and service that honors the remarkable woman who raised her.

The Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services considers it a tremendous privilege to have a connection to these two extraordinary women. Their lives remind us that the greatest measure of a person is not simply the years they have lived, but the love they have given, the lives they have touched, and the legacy they leave behind.

Today, we celebrate Ms. Rosa Lee Williams Stone—100 years of life, love, family, faith, and blessings.

And to Ms. Stone and Ms. Walker, we offer our deepest admiration and gratitude for the example you have set and the love you continue to pour into our community.

Please join the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services in giving these remarkable ladies a standing ovation. 👏👏👏

💐 Happy 100th Birthday, Ms. Rosa Lee Williams Stone!

A century blessed.
Generations inspired.
A legacy that continues.
