Our sincere thanks you to the volunteers from AXA XL who gave their time, enthusiasm and hard work for this, their Day of Service at the Center. Cleaning, organizing, assisting in the programming of the day, concluding with gift card bingo and set-up for tonight’s Bingo. For several years we have looked forward to their help and have never been disappointed!

Last Friday, June 5th, was a great day for over 110 Center members, staff and volunteers - the annual Center Picnic. For the second year we were fortunate to hold the event at the New Hanover Lutheran Church’s Picnic Grove and the place was buzzing (without bugs!). The day began with Gift Card Bingo, sponsored by Chestnut Knoll Personal Care, Memory Care and At Home Care Services represented by the one and only Julie Krasley. And in the heat of the day, we were so grateful for the donation of all the beverages needed to keep everyone hydrated, thanks to Beth Biehl and Tri County Area Federal Credit Union! Of course, noon brought the Picnic Lunch delivered by our friends at Moyer’s Catering. Our sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers who made service to over 100 hungry seniors so efficient. Then, Elvis was in the pavilion! Jeff Krick, Sr. brought down the the house with songs, smooth talk for the ladies and friendly banter for all. So, after this thorough accounting of the events, the pictures below are worth another 1,000 words!

Our end-of-May Corn Hole Tournament was a great set of matches among nine teams. With two games going at once, it was mind-boggling for this scorekeeper! My thanks to Bill Blatt, Cheri Angstadt and Harry Mohr for keeping up with the fast-paced games. Congratulations to the champs, Cheri and Toni, and their challengers, Harry Mohr and Sam Schiavo.

It was good to have members of the seniors group from 242 Community Church of Boyertown with us for lunch yesterday. This blend of the Boyertown Mennonite Church and the 242 Community Church is great to see, and we hope to see them again soon. Our thanks to Jamie Cascino for initiating the visit, and we invite other groups to do the same.

The Center’s Bus Trip crew were off to Penns Peak in Jim Thorpe for a delicious lunch and a great “I remember them” show by Abbamania. The trip, food and music made for a happy day for the travelers. Keep future Bus Trips in mind - they are listed in our PRIMETIMES newsletter and on our website.
