🚩🚩PHILADELPHIA AVENUE STREET FAIR PARKING & TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

The Philadelphia Avenue Street Fair is scheduled for Saturday June 7, 2025, with a rain date of Sunday June 8, 2025. E. Philadelphia Avenue and portions of intersecting streets will be posted “No Parking” for both days, from 8 AM to 5 PM. (If the event is held on Saturday, then the posting will be taken down, and the restrictions will not be in effect on Sunday.) Vehicles which remain parked in violation of the posted restrictions will be towed. East Philadelphia Avenue will also be closed to traffic for the event between Reading Avenue and Madison Street, and detours will be in effect. The Philadelphia Avenue Street Fair is sponsored by the Berks-Mont Business Association, and has been approved by Boyertown Borough Council. The Eastern Berks Regional Police Department would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and help in keeping the event safe and enjoyable for all visitors.

POLICE OFFICER

The Eastern Berks Regional Police Department is recruiting for the position of full-time probationary police officer. The Department serves Colebrookdale Township and the Boroughs of Boyertown and Bechtelsville in Berks County, PA, and embraces a community focused, problem-solving approach to policing. We are continually working to build and maintain our reputation as an effective, professional organization, and to earn the trust and respect of the community. We are seeking to recruit highly motivated, disciplined candidates who are eager to be challenged, and to engage with the department and the community. Prospective applicants should be looking to grow professionally and personally as an individual, while also functioning as a member of a team to help achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Eligible applicants must:
• Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment,
• Be high school graduates or equivalent,
• Have successfully completed the training required under PA Act 120 prior to appointment,
• Have a valid PA Driver’s License, and record that demonstrates history of safe driving,
• Be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation,
• Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer according to MPOETC standards
Additionally, ideal candidates will:
• Have good oral and written communication skills,
• Have good interpersonal skills,
• Have sound judgement and decision-making skills,
• Be able to accept and apply constructive criticism,
• Be adaptable and innovative,
• Be highly disciplined and self-controlled,

• Be highly committed to organization mission, objectives, and core values
Starting salary for 2025 is $71,591, and a top rate (1st class) officer with two full years of service with the Department in 2025 is at $102,233. Competitive benefits package includes but is not limited to fully paid family medical, dental and vision coverage, defined benefit pension plan with five-year DROP program, 457 Deferred Comp. plan, paid vacation, personal and sick time, and holiday pay.
