Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, a.k.a. PBIS, is an evidence-based framework schools use to improve student behavior, safety, and overall school climate.

This summer, as part of their Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTTS) work supporting our strategic plan, our elementary principals developed PBIS programs for each building.

Earlier this week, Mr. Rohn, principal at NHUF, hosted the second of his PBIS assemblies with students. NHUF’s program includes 5Bs: Be Safe, Be Kind to All Students, Be Respectful to All Adults, Be Silent in the Hallways, and Be My Best.

The assembly focused on the last 3Bs, as the first two were already introduced last week. As part of his presentation, Mr. Rohn read the book ‘The Circles All Around Us’ by Brad Montague. Students were then asked to tie the book to their discussion of the 3Bs.

Then came the SURPRISE! Sitting at the front of the room throughout the assembly was a very large object hidden under a tarp. Drumroll please…and ta-dah! It was a new book vending machine courtesy of the Foundation for Boyertown Education.
The vending machine will be incorporated into the PBIS program at NHUF, and EVERY student will have a chance to earn coins valued at the book of their choice. At the same moment, Mr. Rohn picked NHUF’s first recipient – Violette, a 4th-grader, was so well-behaved and honored the 5Bs so well during the assembly that she was selected to pick her very own book! Congratulations to Violette and all of the other assembly winners!

We know that there will be tons of winners throughout the year, and we are grateful that the NHUF PTCA is looking forward to keeping the machine loaded with books!

September is Attendance Awareness Month:

Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent, which means missing 10% or more of the school year (18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school, and graduate from high school.

In addition to learning losses, students also miss out on opportunities to develop socially and gain skills in problem-solving and self-regulation, all of which are needed to grow and learn.

• Cash and credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay sales are available at the gate.
• AVOID THE LINE….BUY ONLINE! Tickets can be purchased via S2Pass: https://fans.s2pass.com/events. We urge spectators to buy tickets before arrival. Credit cards/apple pay purchases are available at the gate, but wait times are longer.
• Spectators will be allowed in the stadium starting at 5:45 pm

Admission Rules and Spectator Decorum:
• Elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Accompanied parents/guardians must remain in the stadium. Students cannot arrive in groups with only one parent/guardian.
• Visiting team students must present their student ID (current or last year). Students in grades K-8 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
• NO BACKPACKS, FOOTBALLS, or balls of any kind, and NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK are permitted. Per PIAA rules, noisemakers, signs, towels, and flags are not allowed. If a student section would like to hang a banner on the bleachers, game personnel must approve it.
• All students must bring their student ID.

Every year, the School Counseling team at MSE welcomes students back to the building with a unique display. The display features not only every student in the building, but also Dr. Maoury and Mr. Marsch in unique characterizations. This year is no exception as Dr. Maoury and Mr. Marsch bubble up with excitement for their quacktastic year.

In a new twist for 2026-2027, their excitement was so contagious that BASH administrators joined in the fun ....presenting Dr. Maoury with a special poster to celebrate during MSE's first faculty meeting of the year!
