As we celebrate our nation’s independence this Fourth of July weekend, the Douglass Township Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends.
While we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly, we also want to remind residents that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes during holiday weekends. If your plans include alcohol, make arrangements for a designated driver, rideshare service, or a safe ride home. Never drink and drive. One poor decision can change lives forever.
🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder
Pennsylvania law allows individuals 18 years of age and older to purchase and use consumer-grade fireworks; however, there are important restrictions. Fireworks may not be discharged:
• While under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• On public or private property without the property owner’s permission
• Within 150 feet of a building or vehicle
• Directed at another person, vehicle, or structure
Violations of Pennsylvania’s fireworks law can result in fines and other penalties.
Please be considerate of your neighbors, veterans, pets, livestock, and those who may be sensitive to loud noises. Always keep water nearby, supervise children, and follow all safety instructions when using fireworks.
This holiday is about celebrating freedom, family, and community. Let’s work together to ensure everyone makes it home safely.
🚔 Drive Sober. Stay Safe. Celebrate Responsibly.
From all of us at the Douglass Township Police Department, have a safe and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸🎇🚓
