๐๐ **Attention Boylston Community and Beyond** ๐๐
Your support, love, and dedication to our department and our officers has never gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
Today, we are reaching out to share that one of our beloved officers and his family are facing an incredibly difficult challenge. In the coming weeks, we will be conducting several fundraisers to help ease the financial burden they are experiencing as they navigate the road ahead.
Below is a message from Sergeant Thomas regarding his wife, Sherrie:
*"We've been keeping a low profile lately because, honestly, we needed time to process everything and inform our immediate family members.*
*After meeting with doctors in Worcester, Dana-Farber, and Brigham and Women's Hospital, we learned that surgery is no longer an option for Sherrie's cancer. In fact, the only treatment available at this point is palliative care. The cancer has progressed too rapidlyโgrowing to 6 cm in just six monthsโand is attached to too many vital structures in her neck to be safely removed.*
*This news has been incredibly difficult to comprehend. Sherrie has been dealt so many difficult hands throughout this journey, yet she continues to fight with strength, determination, and a smile on her face. While the outlook is devastating, we are not giving up hope. We pray every day, every moment, and every breath that she will once again defy the odds.*
*She will be undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy with the hope of slowing the tumor's growth and, God willing, shrinking it enough to give doctors renewed hope. In a few months, another scan will be performed. We pray that tumor is reduced to nothing more than a tiny blip on the screen.*
*Through the pain, uncertainty, and fear, Sherrie has remained resilient and committed to fighting. She is truly amazing. Although she is currently out of work, her incredible coworkers have continued to check in, send thoughtful gifts, and stand beside her in this battle. Their support means more than we can ever express.*
*Our children were devastated by the news, but they have rallied around their mother just as they always have. They are committed to helping her in every way possible and continue to pray for her recovery. They are warriors.*
*As for me, I'm processing, researching, questioning, and fighting right alongside her. I'm still in shock and refuse to accept the fate that's been handed to her. I refuse to back down, and I refuse to give up. She's in this fight, and so am I.*
*My coworkers have also been incredibly supportive and caring. You know who you are, and I cannot thank you enough. Your support means the world to me.*
*Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. You mean the world to us, and together we will weather this latest storm."*
One of our union members has designed a special ** ** t-shirt in support of the Thomas family. The shirt will be available for purchase for one month, and **all proceeds will directly benefit the Thomas family**. Once the ordering window closes, shirts will be available for pickup or shipping.
From all of us at the Boylston Police Department, thank you for any support, prayers, or contributions you are able to provide. Every gesture, no matter the size, means more than words can express.
๐ **Please keep Sherrie, Sergeant Thomas, and their family in your thoughts and prayers.**
