On May 2, 2024, The Palm Beach Post published a story regarding the since dissolved agreement between Phil Terrano (Primetime Sports Group LLC) and the City of Boynton Beach to bring a world-class athletics training facility to the East Boynton Beach Little League complex. This was a passion project for Mr. Terrano, who grew up in the Boynton Beach community and holds those fields in the highest possible regard.
Mr. Terrano’s plan was to self-fund the project and also support the Boynton Beach Parks & Recreation Department with maintenance of the fields, easing the financial burden for both the city and its taxpayers. In fact, the Parks & Recreation Department was instrumental in putting the site plan together, and Primetime Sports Group would like to thank that remarkable team once again for their confidence and effort.
While Mr. Terrano is grateful for the opportunity the city provided him to discuss this project and for their support along the way, the contractual agreement is no longer in place (as of February 16, 2024).
As mentioned in The Palm Beach Post article, there is pending litigation involving defamation, breach of contract and tortious interference. It is also worth noting that Mr. Terrano is the plaintiff in each of those cases; not the defendant. Due to the significant potential consequences of publicly discussing pending legal matters, Mr. Terrano and Primetime Sports Group will have no further comment.
This was an opportunity that Mr. Terrano pursued with the best of intentions for all involved — the City of Boynton Beach, East Boynton Little League (which he has been heavily involved with for many years as a player, coach, umpire, Board member, volunteer and parent), children, players, families, etc. — and while he is disappointed that the project will not come to fruition, he understands that, oftentimes, even those with the best of intentions are mischaracterized or chastised by others with their own differing agendas.
Mr. Terrano is mindful that there will always be dissenters, regardless of the situation or circumstances, but he takes great comfort and pride in the overwhelming positivity and support that he has received from the majority of the community over the past several years.
Mr. Terrano would like to emphasize that under no circumstances was Primetime Sports Group gaining exclusive rights or control over any fields at the park this includes the construction being done currently on Field # 1. The seperate exclusive agreement the City Of Boynton approved for Mike Barwis of Barwis Methods and his foundation Athletic Angels which have no affliation to Primetime Sports Group was a complete separate development deal.
The East Boynton Little League complex is “home” to Mr. Terrano for countless reasons, and while he is confident that the truth will ultimately prevail, Primetime Sports Group is focused on moving forward and wishes the very best to all involved.
