๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š Montana 4-H is looking for 20โ€“25 host families for our International Exchange Program (MT4HIEP) this summer and we need YOUR help!

From July 22 โ€“ August 16, 2026, Montana 4-H will welcome 18 youth delegates (ages 12โ€“16; 9 girls and 9 boys) plus 2 adult chaperones from around the world. These teens arenโ€™t tourists, they are here to become part of your family and experience everyday American life. Right now, only ONE Montana family has applied to host. We urgently need more families to make this program possible.

๐Ÿก What does hosting look like? Itโ€™s simpler than you might think:
โ€ข A welcoming home and a host sibling (same gender, within 4 years of age)
โ€ข A bed of their own
โ€ข Three meals a day
โ€ข Adult supervision and inclusion in family life
No special travel or entertainment required - just invite them into your normal routine! Farm chores, grocery runs, 4-H meetings, county fair, camp drop-offs - this is real-life cultural exchange at its best.

๐Ÿ“ Host family applications include an online form, background checks for adults, and a brief in-home interview. Placement continues until all delegates are matched.

๐ŸŒHost family recruitment is not just open to 4-H families; ANYONE can apply to host one of the delegates. And don't forget, two adult chaperones also need a host family placement.

๐Ÿ”— Apply or learn more: https://states4h.org/host-a-student/summer/

๐Ÿ“ฉ Questions? Contact Dave Brink at [email protected] or 406-203-6675.

This is more than hosting - itโ€™s a once-in-a-lifetime cultural exchange that builds lifelong connections๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š

Certified Sitters๐Ÿผ๐Ÿšผ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป

Recently, 10 Gallatin 4-H youth (ages 11+) successfully completed and earned their Babysitting Certificates after an incredible 7-month project series, meeting once a month to build skills, confidence, and real-world readiness.

Through this hands-on curriculum, participants explored what it truly means to be a capable, caring, trustworthy, and competent babysitter. Youth learned how to keep children safe and happy, communicate effectively with parents and other adults, make responsible decisions, and respond appropriately in emergency situations. Topics included CPR basics, child safety, nutrition, age-appropriate care, and much more.

Congratulations to all of our newly certified babysitters for their hard work, commitment, and growth throughout this project! And a HUGE thank you to volunteer Project Leader Erin Neil for sharing her expertise as a Registered Nurse, Certified Lactation Consultant, mom of 2 daughters, and 4-H alum.

In 2026, Montana 4-H Foundation, Inc. awarded $39,500 in state-level scholarships to graduating 4-H members across Montana. Out of 160 applicants, only 45 were selected and SIX were Gallatin County 4-H members!! Congratulations to Nicole Berger, Keira Unrein, Samuel O'Hara, Teah Vennes, Wyt Oliver, and Elsa Austin (Class of 2025 Alumni) on their achievements at the state level.

โ€œThese scholarships represent more than financial support - they are an investment in Montanaโ€™s future,โ€ said Montana 4-H Foundation Board Chair Roni Baker. โ€œThe generosity of donors throughout Montana and the nation makes it possible for us to continue supporting young people as they pursue higher education.โ€

Thank you Montana 4-H for investing in the futures of our 4-H youth!
