Meet the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) chaplain team! The team includes Warren Hiebert, Randy Jones, Dale Fricke, and Mark Harold. These men serve an integral role in our law enforcement community.
Though the team primarily serves GCSO deputies and their families, they also assist Bozeman Police Department members. Chaplains provide 24/7, 365 support for first responders and families in crisis situations.
“Seeing a need and meeting it is our responsibility,” explained Dale Fricke.
In 2025, the chaplain team responded to 110 incidents. 72% of these incidents involved a death. Chaplains assist police officers and sheriff’s deputies at the scene, help with death notifications and provide grief materials, assist families with counseling needs, offer peer support, and support practical and logistical needs.
“We are often part of the worst day of people’s lives. It is a privilege to respond to these situations and serve our community,” said Randy Jones.
Chaplains also help the community in more positive situations, such as officiating weddings for law enforcement officers and offering invocations during civil ceremonies. Between incidents, the team regularly visits and spends time with law enforcement agencies throughout Gallatin Valley. Additionally, Mark Harold is currently training his dog, Bailey, as a first responder therapy dog. We look forward to welcoming Bailey to the team as a full-fledged member!
