UPDATE: Monday, April 20th @ 1900

3 Hyalite firefighters staffing Brush 6 are headed out on a mutual aid request to assist and other partners with the East Side Fire.

The East Side Fire is currently estimated to be burning approximately 3000 acres. The last update reports β€œThe fire is now 3,000 acres and continues to progress north upslope. The fire has spotted to the ridge above Howell Gulch and resources are being moved into that area. Per incident command.”

There are evacuation orders in place:

Evacuations for East Side road are in progress. North of Howell Gulch road evacuation warning. South of Howell Gulch road to Meeteetsee Trail Road is evacuation status.

Bull Moose Lane in the 400 Ranch is being evacuated as are campgrounds along East Side Road.

Hwy 212 - mile marker 68 Meeteetsee Trail Rd to mile marker 59 Lake Fork Rd

Hwy 212 is closed south of Red Lodge at the Beartooth Ranger Station.

Before you strike a match in Gallatin County, make sure you have a burn permit AND have activated it for the day you plan to burn.

πŸ’¨ Don't burn on windy days β€” embers travel fast
🚫 Burn only dry, natural vegetation β€” no trash or treated wood
πŸ’§ Fully extinguish with water until cold to the touch
πŸ“ž If it escapes, call 911 immediately

πŸ”₯PRESCRIBED BURN PLANNED 4/9 - 4/10 πŸ”₯

DNRC Bozeman Unit plans to conduct a prescribed burn today and tomorrow southwest of Bozeman, off of US-191 near the Flying D Ranch.
Residents in Gallatin and Madison counties' should expect visible smoke from these burning activities. While smoke should be isolated to areas near the burn, it may settle into nearby valleys overnight, please do not call 911.
