A Letter to Bradenton Beach and Surrounding Communities

A library is more than a building. It’s where neighbors connect, children discover a love of reading, and a community comes to life. For over 30 years, Tingley Memorial Library has proudly served the residents and visitors of Bradenton Beach, and we’re honored to be part of what makes our city special.

Since opening, the library has operated solely on donations, not tax dollars. In 1986, a generous donation from resident Beulah Tingley made it possible to build and operate a public library in Bradenton Beach. A trailblazer of her time, she championed causes across Florida and even seconded President Roosevelt’s nomination in 1932. Her legacy continues to benefit generations.

Today, while the building remains structurally sound, hurricane damage and Florida’s climate have created an urgent need for major repairs beyond our current means. We’re asking for your help.

Your contribution will support replacing the HVAC, front stairs, accessibility ramp, and emergency back stairs. With these improvements, the library's dedicated volunteers and part-time staff member can continue connecting readers with books, preserving local history, and hosting community programs. Contributors will be recognized on the library’s donor wall.
