Keep Manatee Beautiful

Keep Manatee Beautiful Keep Manatee Beautiful inspires community involvement through its commitment to making Manatee County a cleaner and more beautiful environment.

Keep Manatee Beautiful inspires community involvement by bringing together volunteers, businesses and local government to continue to impact the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Keep Manatee Beautiful works as a liaison with local governments to protect and enhance Manatee County’s natural resources, specifically its public properties. Our activities benefit local governments by b

eing cost effective, developing citizen ownership of public property, and assisting with the overwhelming task of litter removal and prevention. Our cleanup programs are a great way to fulfill school community service requirements, involve youth in green projects and learn about Manatee County’s natural spaces, native vegetation, wetlands and shores. We believe that lasting change happens when people work together one person at a time, one community at a time. Through Keep Manatee Beautiful, our community has been involved in the programs and events described on our Facebook. All these programs and events have a significant purpose and effect on our community whether it is pertaining to marine debris and its effects on water quality, or to keep medians, parks and other areas litter free or how oil, chemicals and debris affect water quality and threaten wildlife. These programs have not only generated more awareness in our community but has created a deeper sense of responsibility and helped in reaffirming Keep Manatee Beautiful’s mission. People and volunteers generously donate to accomplish our mission. They are honored to be able to participate in all our events and programs which are designed to improve our quality of life by educating our children and the members of our community of the importance of our environment. We are the torch bearers of the future of this community. Since 1991, our volunteers and sponsors have made it happen! We pledge that with your support, we will make a difference in the future for your families and for generations to come.

The celebration doesn't end when the fireworks do...

Every year, the day after Independence Day is one of the biggest beach cleanup days of the year. Once the crowds head home, thousands of pieces of litter are left behind, threatening our wildlife, waterways, and the beauty of our coastline.

On Sunday, July 5, we're inviting our community to be part of the solution.

📍 52nd Street, Holmes Beach
⏰ 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.

We'll provide all cleanup supplies, you just bring closed-toe shoes, water, sunscreen, and a willingness to make a difference.

Stay tuned for more details, and mark your calendars. Let's show our beaches a little love after the holiday. 🌊♻️

Join us as we remove post independence day litter and help protect our beaches, wildlife, and waterways.

🌿 DID YOU KNOW? 🌿

If just 50% of Americans replaced their front lawns with native plants, it would create the equivalent of a 20-million-acre park for pollinators, birds, and wildlife.

Here in Manatee County, we have dozens of beautiful native and Florida-friendly plants that can thrive in our landscapes while supporting local ecosystems. From vibrant Firebush and Beautyberry to iconic Sabal Palms and Sea Oats, these plants provide food, shelter, and habitat for the wildlife that call Florida home.

Native landscaping can:
🐝 Support pollinators
🐦 Feed and shelter birds
💧 Reduce water use
🌊 Protect local waterways
🌿 Increase biodiversity

You don’t have to replace your entire yard to make a difference. Even adding a few native plants can help create a healthier, more resilient Florida.

Which Florida native is your favorite? Let us know below! ⬇️

Has anyone noticed these beautiful updates around Anna Maria Island lately? 😍🌴🌾

A few weeks ago, Keep Manatee Beautiful partnered with the Anna Maria Island Garden Club and several incredible community partners to help beautify our island.

First up is the Bridge Street roundabout 🌺 — and wow, it’s filling in beautifully! The flowers and landscaping are really starting to come to life.

We also wanted to share an update on the sea oats planted with the Girl Scouts. Just look at how much they’ve grown! 💚 These native plants play a critical role in protecting our dunes while making our beaches even more beautiful.

It’s amazing what a community can accomplish when we work together. ☀️🌊
