🌀 Today marks the first day of Hurricane Season. 🌀

Now is the time to prepare before a storm is on the horizon. Take a few moments to review your emergency plan, build or restock your disaster supply kit, and stay informed throughout the season.

✔️ Know your evacuation zone
✔️ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts
✔️ Stock enough food, water, medications, and pet supplies for several days
✔️ Review important documents and insurance information

At West Manatee Fire Rescue, we encourage everyone to be prepared, stay informed, and stay safe. A little preparation today can make a big difference tomorrow.

Together, we can weather any storm. ⛈️

After a recent golf cart fire in our community, West Manatee Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to practice safe charging and maintenance habits to help prevent fires.

⚠️ Golf Cart Fire Safety Tips:
• Always use manufacturer-approved chargers and equipment
• Avoid unattended or overnight charging
• Regularly inspect batteries, wiring and connections for damage
• Do not overload extension cords
• Charge in well-ventilated areas only
• Keep golf carts away from combustible materials and clutter while charging
• Avoid parking or charging directly next to vehicles or beneath structures

Damaged batteries and improper charging practices can quickly lead to overheating and fire. A little precaution today can help prevent a serious emergency tomorrow.

If you notice smoke, sparks or signs of overheating, call 911 immediately.
