Two years of stories, connection, and community.

In August 2024, the Friends of the Lakewood Ranch Library had the privilege of helping bring the Robinson Family Foundation Collection to the Lakewood Ranch Library, transforming a generous gift into more than 600 books celebrating diverse voices, experiences, and stories.

And readers have embraced it.

This past year alone, the collection recorded 1,428 checkouts with children’s books accounting for an incredible 93% of circulation of the collection. From picture books and biographies to bilingual books and Wonderbooks, these books are reaching young readers throughout our community.

We remain deeply grateful to the Robinson Family Foundation for this extraordinary gift honoring Myron F. Robinson’s legacy and lifelong love of libraries.

More than 600 books. Thousands of checkouts. One lasting legacy.

This was prepared by the Sarasota Library Foundation regarding the proposed property tax amendment which will threaten library services. We value the services our libraries provide and do not want to see them reduced due to lowered property taxes.

Save the date! Our next book donation day is Saturday October 3, 2026. Please note the new hours due to the new library opening hours. We will be accepting donations from 11am-1pm since the library will be opening at 10am beginning August 1, 2026.

Cuban Dance for Beginners (Saturday, 7/18 1-2pm)
Try Cuban Salsa, a popular style known for its fluid and lively movements and emphasis on improvisation and musicality. Beginners start by learning basic steps, turns, and embracing the social aspect of Cuban Salsa and Rueda de casino. This program will be offered on both 5/16 and 7/18.
