🚨 STUDENT ARRESTED FOR THREAT AT MANATEE HIGH SCHOOL 🚨
BPD has arrested a teen accused of making an electronic threat directed at Manatee High School.

Monday evening (8/31/26), BPD was notified of a threatening message sent earlier that day to a staff member at MHS. The message was sent through the MySDMC Focus App, the student information system used by the School District of Manatee County.

Crime Reduction Team officers contacted the student whose MySDMC Focus account was used to send the threat and determined that the account had been accessed and used by another student.

This morning (9/1/26), BPD detectives, working in collaboration with the School District, obtained additional information indicating that Julian Watkins, 17, accessed the MySDMC Focus account using the other student's login credentials.

Watkins was detained at MHS, questioned with parental permission, and arrested. He is charged with making a written or electronic threat to kill or do bodily injury, a second-degree felony.

Out of an abundance of caution, additional patrol officers were assigned to the school Tuesday, supplementing BPD School Resource Officers and Manatee County Sheriff's Office Guardians assigned to MHS.

Online posts, text messages, or statements threatening school violence - even those intended as pranks or jokes - are investigated as real threats. Report potential threats immediately using the FortifyFL app. Call 911 for immediate emergencies.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to talk with their children about the importance of protecting personal information, including usernames and passwords, and never sharing login credentials with others.

(UPDATED WITH VIDEO ON 9/3/26). 🚨 A Bradenton man who fled to Hungary in 2022 to avoid arrest on child exploitation charges has been returned to Florida, marking the first time in over 25 years that a Hungarian citizen was allowed to be extradited to the U.S. 🚨

15 local, federal, and international law enforcement partners worked to take Csaba Nemeth, a dual U.S.-Hungarian citizen, into custody.

Nemeth, 48, is charged with possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Because investigators determined that Nemeth possessed over 10 CSAM files, the offense is enhanced to a second-degree felony.

THE BACK STORY:
The investigation into Nemeth began in August 2022 after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received a CyberTipline report that was forwarded to the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The report included a file believed to contain CSAM, and an associated IP address connected to Nemeth's residence.

In September 2022, detectives obtained a search warrant for Nemeth's home and seized multiple electronic devices. An extensive digital forensic examination revealed more than 10 videos containing CSAM that investigators determined belonged to Nemeth.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Nemeth in November 2022; however, he could not be located.

The FBI Sarasota Suncoast Child Exploitation Task Force tracked Nemeth to Hungary, and a federal arrest warrant was obtained for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

On August 28, 2026, FBI task force special agents escorted Nemeth back to Florida. He is being held at the Manatee County Jail on $650,000 bond.

THANK YOU:
BPD could not have made this arrest without the combined efforts of the following: Budapest Organized Crime Task Force; FBI Sarasota Suncoast Child Exploitation Task Force; FBI Legal Attaché Budapest; Hungarian International Criminal Cooperation Center, Ministry of Justice, and National Bureau of Investigation; Royal Netherlands Marechaussee; U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam; U.S. Customs and Border Protection; U.S. DOJ Office of International Affairs; U.S. Department of State; U.S. DHS - Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); HSI Vienna; U.S. Embassy Budapest.

🎃 Based on the line at Starbucks today, pumpkin spice season is back. Perfect timing, frankly, because we just received our first seasonal patrol vehicle. And while there’s only one of these sweet, sweet rides, don’t worry: All BPD cruisers will feature Pumpkin Spice air fresheners for those who happen to catch a ride with us.
🚔 Seasonal. Festive. Still going to jail.
☕️ UPDATE: Apparently, a lot of people think this is a real vehicle wrap. It isn't. Our patrol vehicles are not, in fact, pumpkin-spice wrapped. But some officers may have pumpkin-infused air fresheners. That's a personal choice.
