Agriculture is the top industry in our Commonwealth, and our forest products industry is a big part of the reason why! Pennsylvania ranks first in hardwood growing stock, production of hardwood lumber and wood product exports. The industry supports over 63,000 jobs and 2,100 companies, with an economic impact of $39 billion annually. The House Timber Caucus, of which I serve as co-chairman, met earlier today to talk about the importance of the industry and opportunities to grow it. I am pictured here with Fred Strathmeyer, executive director of the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association; and Rep. Paul Takac, my fellow chairman who represents portions of Centre County.
