On 04/24/2026 at approximately 1:58 AM, a bear was observed running through yards in the area of Leonard Avenue.

Residents in the area are advised to remain alert and take precautions to avoid attracting wildlife.

⚠️ Safety Tips:
β€’ πŸ—‘οΈ Secure all garbage and food sources (including pet food & bird feeders)
β€’ πŸšͺ Keep doors, windows, and garage doors closedβ€”especially overnight
β€’ πŸš— Lock vehicles and remove any food or trash from inside
β€’ πŸ”Š If you encounter a bear, make noise and back away slowly
β€’ ❌ Do NOT approach or feed the bear

The Foster Twp. Police is accepting applications for the position of a full time police officer. All applicants must be ACT 120 certified and applications can be picked up at 1185 East Main Street.

Starting Hourly Rate - $21.25 hour
Top Rate - $28.33 hour

*****UPDATE*****

The vehicle was located over the weekend by Olean City Police. The investigation is still ongoing and we truly appreciate the public’s help in submitting numerous tips when vehicles of similar nature were observed so our officers could further investigate this incident.

The Foster Township Police is looking to identify the owner of a vehicle involved in an incident earlier today, 01/30/26. The vehicle in question is a black Chevrolet cobalt. The vehicle had a loud exhaust that was broken and being held on with an orange ratchet strap. It is believed that the driver side door is unable to be opened. If you are familiar with this vehicle or know who the owner is, please contact our department. 814-362-4521

With this weather coming; we would advise people to not travel unless absolutely necessary. Frequent trouble roads are Olean Road, Derrick Road and South Kendall Avenue. Keep this in mind if you absolutely have to travel today, that these roads and likely all roads could be nearly impossible to travel on. Slow down and be aware of your surroundings.

****Ongoing Investigation****
The Foster Township Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred between 12/08/25 @ 4:00 P.M. and 12/09/25 @ 1:00 P.M. in the area of Pratt Hollow.

With this incident, a family's dog, a black labrador retriever, was outside, went into the woods of the area in the photograph, and was shot and killed.

If anyone, knows any information regarding the identity of the person who shot and killed this family's dog please contact our department via Facebook or the non-emergency phone number of 814-362-4521.

The Foster Township Police are seeking help from the public, in attempting to identify this male regarding an incident from Tractor Supply.

The item stolen is on the pictures, to make people aware if this individual were to try and sell it on Facebook Marketplace.

If you have any idea on the identity of this male please reach out to our department, by contacting the non-emergency number 814-362-4521, or messaging us on Facebook.

The male was also said to have tattoos on his face and was seen getting into a black/dark blue Nissan Rogue, and turned right out of the Tractor Supply parking lot onto Bolivar Drive towards ARG. This theft occurred 11/15/25 at approximately 08:25 AM.

Congratulations Chief Snyder!!!!

Kane Borough would like to congratulate Officer-in-Charge, Derrick Snyder, on being appointed Chief of Police this morning! Derrick was chosen as the top candidate from a group of seven applicants. Before Derrick began his journey with the Borough, he served in the Air Force in security forces. He was then hired at the Kane Borough Police Department as a part-time Officer, until moving into a full-time position in 2003. Throughout his years of service, Derrick served as the Officer for the Code, DARE, Canine, and Child Abuse Investigating programs. Chief Snyder is looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of Kane Borough and is truly grateful for this opportunity.
