****ALL AREA RESIDENTS****

There is a scam reported to this department in reference to Jury Duty. A resident was contacted by a party who stated that he was Sgt. Brian Quinn of the Mckean County Sheriff's Office. This male then states that you have missed jury duty. The male then requests you to pay money (in this case $1,500.00) to lift the warrant for your arrest. The male then wants you to stay on the phone with him as you go to Dollar General or Walmart to purchase a payment card (Apple etc....)

This would not normal practice for any agency and is considered a scam. If you should experience this type of phone calls. Please do not act on this and contact your local police department.

👮 McKean County Law Enforcement Activity – July 2026

During the month of July 2026, McKean County 911 documented 2,164 law enforcement activities involving municipal police departments and our public safety partners.

The attached graphic highlights the number of times each agency was added to a CAD incident, along with their Year-to-Date (YTD) totals through the end of July.

These activities include calls for service dispatched by McKean County 911, officer-initiated activity, welfare checks, information reports, requests for service, and other incidents where an agency was associated with an event in our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

The County Agencies/Misc category includes activity involving the McKean County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Adult & Juvenile Probation, requests for certain services, emergency notification requests, and other partner agencies.

We appreciate the continued partnership and professionalism of all of the law enforcement agencies that serve and protect the residents and visitors of McKean County every day.

Located on Tuna Crossroads this morning. The dog was transported to the SPCA. If anyone knows the owner please let them know where it is located. Thank you for any assistance.

The pictured dog was called in as stray and has since been taken to the McKean County SPCA. The dog did not have any tags. The owner(s) of the dog can contact the SPCA to retrieve the dog.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr. He was assigned as a Motor Carrier Inspector at PSP Frackville and was killed in the line of duty on July 1. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-MEP26.
