A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful team at the Braidwood Community Care Center Food Pantry for their generous donation of pantry items to help keep our community micropantries stocked!

Their donation included a substantial amount of items for our Student Micropantry, which is especially important as we head into the summer months when some students may have reduced access to school-based meals and snacks.

We manage two micropantries located outside of CVS in Braidwood. One pantry is designated specifically for students and stocked with grab-and-go snacks, easy-to-prepare meals, and other youth-friendly items. The second pantry serves the broader community. Together, these pantries provide a simple way for neighbors to help neighbors by ensuring food is available whenever someone needs it.

We also encourage our community to support the Braidwood Community Care Center Food Pantry, located at 112 S. Center Street in Braidwood. Pantry hours are Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Their dedication to helping local families makes a tremendous difference throughout our community.

Thank you again to the Braidwood Community Care Center Food Pantry and to everyone who continues to support these efforts. Your generosity helps ensure that food is available to community members, families, and students when they need it most.

In the Community Mental Health survey back in January, many of you expressed interest in learning more about Mental Health Response Training. We are delighted to have Michelle Pruim, Executive Director of NAMI Will-Grundy joining us to tell us more about facilitator training for 𝑵𝑨𝑴𝑰 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚-𝒕𝒐-𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎. In collaboration with Wilmington Coalition for a Healthy Community, we will soon be recruiting people to facilitate local meetings.

𝑵𝑨𝑴𝑰 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚-𝒕𝒐-𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 is a free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program. This means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition. NAMI Family-to-Family is taught by NAMI-trained family members who have been there, and includes
presentations, discussions and interactive exercises.

Our coalition meetings are open to everyone and serve as a space to:
• Share progress on current initiatives
• Plan and coordinate upcoming community efforts
• Address challenges and explore solutions together
• Build stronger partnerships across our community

Your voice and involvement help us continue making a positive impact. Thank you for being part of this work! We look forward to seeing you there!

Our monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month, with the exception of July. If you ever have any questions/comments, please feel free to email us at [email protected] or call the office at 815-390-5024.

Every member of a community has the opportunity to positively influence youth. The four strategies shown make up the HPR Way of Being, a relationship-centered approach that helps caring adults build health-promoting relationships and support youth in feeling valued, capable, connected, and supported.

When we intentionally prioritize youth well-being in our everyday interactions, our mindset, presence, words, tone, and actions become powerful tools for building trust, strengthening connections, and reinforcing the positive, protective beliefs that help youth thrive.

When stress starts building up, taking a moment to pause and reset can help. Deep breathing, stretching, stepping outside, drinking water, or taking a short break are simple ways to support both your mind and body.
