With summer now in full swing, we wanted to share a reminder that street legal golf carts & side-by-side vehicles are prohibited from driving on any highway/roadway under the jurisdiction of the state or the county. This includes the following roadways within and adjacent to the City of Braidwood:
- Rt. 113/Main St. (east of Division St.)
- Rt. 53 (Front St.)
- Rt. 129 (Washington St.)
- Coal City Rd.
- S. Center St. (south of Rt. 129)
- Kankakee St.
- Cemetery Rd. (south of Comet Dr.)

Answers to the 7 most common questions we get:
- You are allowed cross state routes provided that it is at a designated intersection in order to continue straight down a city roadway.

- Driving them on a sidewalk is not permitted.

- Crossing over the railroad tracks (either on the roadway or the sidewalk) to get to the other side is not allowed.

- All operators must have a valid driverโ€™s license & insurance to operate the vehicle.

- Seatbelts need to be worn by all occupants on the golf cart.

- Headlights & tail lights should be turned on whenever driving the vehicle on a city street (even during the daytime).

- Annual inspections are not required.

Every year, police officers dedicate time to critical lifesaving training that can make all the difference during an emergency. Annual CPR/AED certification for adults, children, and infants, along with tourniquet training, ensures officers are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when seconds matter most.

This morning, our entire department participated in annual CPR/AED & tourniquet training courtesy of the Braidwood Fire Protection District.

Whether assisting at a medical emergency, traffic crash, community event, or critical incident, these skills allow officers to provide immediate care until EMS arrives. From performing CPR on a cardiac arrest victim, using an AED to help restore a heartbeat, assisting a choking infant, or applying a tourniquet to stop severe bleeding, this training helps save lives in our communities every day.

Continuous hands-on training keeps officers confident, prepared, and ready to respond to emergencies involving people of all ages. We are proud of the commitment our officers make to maintaining these important lifesaving skills and serving our community with professionalism, compassion, and preparedness.
