It’s Fire Prevention Week, and our colleagues at the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services are emphasizing the importance of safe lithium-ion battery use. 🔋

Remember:

• Charge devices on a table, desk, or other hard, flat surface. ✔️
• Stop using your device if it feels very hot. ✔️
• Unplug your device when it is fully charged. ✔️
• Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer. ✔️

FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 508 PM EDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and 5
inches of rain have fallen.

- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHERE...Eastern Norfolk County

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 956 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between
2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

- Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.

With all this rain coming, we thought now was a good time to remind everyone that Braintree has an Adopt-a-Drain Program. Residents can adopt a local drain and help keep it clean, removing leaves, trash, and other debris. This helps prevent localized flooding on our streets by keeping the drains clear.
