🗳️ Meet our newest registered voter, Jackson Hemphill! 🇺🇸

Jackson’s grandmother urged him to get to our office before the deadline so he can be ready to cast his very first ballot in the Midterm Election on November 3rd!

📅 Voter registration deadline: Monday at 5:00 PM

⏰ SPECIAL SATURDAY HOURS:
Our office will be open THIS SATURDAY from 8:00 AM until NOON to help you get registered!

Moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles—teach the young people in your family the importance of participating in our elections. If they’re eligible to register, encourage them to get registered and learn about the voting process.

We gave Jackson a sample ballot, explained how the process works, and encouraged him to do his homework on the candidates and issues so he can be prepared to cast an informed vote on November 3rd.

ATTENTION COLLEGE VOTERS! 🇺🇸

Ole Miss student Caroline Odom stopped by our office yesterday to cast her absentee ballot before heading back to campus!

College students — YOUR VOTE MATTERS! Don’t let being away at school keep you from making your voice heard on Election Day.

If you qualify to vote absentee, you have options:

📬 Away at college? Contact our office and we can help you with the process to have an absentee ballot mailed to you.

🏠 Coming home? Stop by the Rankin County Circuit Clerk’s Office and cast your absentee ballot in person.

We’ll also be open 8:00 a.m.–12:00 noon on:
• Saturday, October 3
• Saturday, October 24
• Saturday, October 31

🗳️ VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 5

Mailed voter registration applications must be postmarked by October 5. If you’re not registered yet, don’t wait until the last minute!

We are excited to see students taking the BIG step of registering to vote!

Garrett Gilbert, a Hartfield Academy senior, was excited to register to vote and is looking forward to casting his very first ballot this November.

Registering to vote is a BIG deal. It’s an important milestone and an opportunity for our young people to make their voices heard and take part in the election process.

Parents, if you have a child who is 17 now but will turn 18 by November, make sure they get registered!

The deadline to register is October 5 at 5:00 p.m.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT AT McLAURIN HIGH SCHOOL!

We had such a great time speaking with the seniors at McLaurin High School! A special thank you to Coach Kelly for inviting me back to visit with his students again this year. I always enjoy the opportunity to talk with young people as they prepare to become voters and take on new responsibilities after graduation.

We covered a lot! We talked about the role of the Rankin County Circuit Clerk’s Office, how to register to vote, what students need to know about voting when they leave for college, how to find and review a sample ballot, and most importantly, the responsibility of becoming an informed voter.

And we talked about why ONE VOTE really does matter.

Rankin County has had a Supervisor race decided by ONE vote.

The Town of Pelahatchie has even had an Alderman race end in a tie and ultimately be decided by a coin flip.

That certainly gets your attention when you wonder whether your one vote can make a difference!

What impressed me most was how engaged these students were. They listened, asked great questions, and genuinely participated in the conversation.

I was joined by two of our deputy clerks, Kirby and Allayna, and we were able to register students who wanted to register to vote. That was a great way to put what we had been talking about into action!

These students are bright, thoughtful, and preparing for an exciting future. I’m grateful we had the opportunity to spend some time with them and hopefully encourage a new generation of informed and engaged voters.

Know your ballot. Know your candidates. Ask questions. Get informed. And VOTE!

To celebrate our country’s 250th birthday, we just had to do something a little extra—custom absentee voting stickers!

🗳️ OUR FIRST VOTER! 🇺🇸

The first voter to cast an absentee ballot for the November 3 General Election was Ms. Glenda Smith — and she loves being FIRST! ❤️ And, of course, she brought her husband, Ronald, along to vote too!

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ms. Glenda through her service with Shower Power, where she faithfully volunteers each week in the food pantry. She is truly one of the sweetest ladies with such a heart for serving others.

Around here, being the FIRST VOTER comes with bragging rights AND a T-shirt! 👕🎉

Congratulations, Ms. Glenda! And thank you, Glenda and Ronald, for making voting a priority and kicking off absentee voting with us!
