🍂✨ Fall Break Reminder! ✨🍂

It’s almost time for a little break! All RCSD schools and district offices will be closed October 5–9 for Fall Break.

đź“… Monday, October 12 is also a Student Holiday.

While students enjoy an extra day off, our schools will be busy with:
• Parent/Teacher Conferences
• Secondary Staff Development

We hope our students, families, and staff enjoy a safe, restful break and some well-deserved time to recharge! 🍂

Students will return to school on Tuesday, October 13.

đź’™ Happy National Human Resource Professional Appreciation Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the people behind the people! Our HR team works every day to support our employees, answer questions, solve problems and help make RCSD a great place to work. We’re grateful for all they do for our people and for our 28 schools!

Won the Week Hero - Child Nutrition Department, Willie Young - Florence High School

This week, we are shining a spotlight on our RCSD Child Nutrition Department and recognizing someone who goes above and beyond for our students and our school community, Mr. Willie Young, a cafeteria worker at Florence High School.

Mr. Willie has faithfully served the Rankin County School District Child Nutrition Department at both Florence High School and Florence Elementary School for several years. He is known by those around him for his kindness, humility and genuine love for kids.

For those who work alongside Mr. Willie, his willingness to help others comes as no surprise. His manager, Connie, shared that “he has such a heart and love for kids. He is a very humble man and such a treat to work with.”

Mr. Willie may be humble, but we want him to know that we see him, we appreciate him and we are incredibly proud to have him as part of our RCSD family.

It is our honor to recognize Mr. Willie Young as our RCSD “Won the Week” Hero!

RCSD was glad to take part in Alcorn State University’s Teacher Education Committee Forum this week.

Our Director of Human Resources, Anitra Hollis, joined university leaders, teacher candidates, and district partners for conversations about preparing and supporting future educators.

It was especially meaningful to connect with Pelahatchie High School graduate Telaiah Lewis, who is now studying at Alcorn to become a special education teacher.

We love seeing our graduates pursue careers that will make a difference for students! ❤️

Thank you to Dean Dr. Tracey Gregory and the Alcorn team for bringing everyone together for this worthwhile conversation. We look forward to staying connected with Alcorn’s teacher candidates and graduates.

This week, our elementary new teachers participated in their first RCSD Induction, Support, and Encouragement (R.I.S.E.) meeting. They gathered for an engaging day of collaboration, learning, and growth. They also enjoyed hearing from other RCSD teachers' experiences in a Q&A panel discussion. We are beyond excited to support this incredible group as they shape the future of Rankin County School District!
