Congratulations to the Brandon Cadet Squadron team for winning 1st place in the 2025 Florida Wing Ultimate Cadet Competition. Team members were: C/2d Lt McGarrah, C/CMSgt Mobley, C/SMSgt Gonzalez, and C/MSgt Donaghy.

Cadets competed in variety of Emergency Services events against 15 other teams over the course of two days.

Civil Air Patrol and the Brandon Cadet Squadron recently lost a dedicated senior member, Capt David Stevens, who passed away on November 19, 2025. Capt Stevens had most recently served as the safety officer for the squadron, but was a dedicated member who had also previously served as squadron commander in Naples.

Capt Stevens also was a great mentor to both the cadets and the new senior members and was always willing to help. He will be greatly missed.

Cadets from Wimauma and Brandon came out yesterday to help the Ruskin VFW with their monthly Flag retirement. 600 American flags were due to be respectfully retired.

The Wimauma Flight had a successful open house this week with cadets from Brandon supporting alongside adult leaders from Brandon, Macdill and Group 6 supporting!

Regular meetings start next week - 8 October on Wednesdays 6 - 8 pm.
Thanks to all that came out and supported them!

Brandon Cadet Squadron cadets were able to participate in Orientation flights recently.
Cadets in Civil Air Patrol can receive up to 5 powered flights. These flights are more than just going up in the air. Each flight has teaching points/syllabus and cadets are even allowed to take the controls during a portion of the flight.
Sometimes this is the first time they have ever been in a plane and for some - this will be the first step in a career path to being a pilot.
