The Rankin County Sheriff's Department has been made aware of an ongoing "Bond Scam" involving victims both in-state and out-of-state.

The scheme that the suspect(s) are using seeks to prey upon the family members of inmates by posing as "bond agents" and by make promises to have inmates released and transferred to rehabilitation facilities in exchange for money.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!

If you receive a phone call from a "bond agent" or "bonding company" that you did not solicit, asking for you to transmit a payment related to the bond for a loved one who is currently incarcerated; HANG UP.

Then contact the law enforcement agency or detention facility holding that loved one to gain some discernment on the situation.
