Elections in Mississippi are a team effort involving multiple offices working together to ensure every election is fair, accurate, and conducted according to law.

Two key offices that voters interact with are the County Election Commission and the Circuit Clerk’s Office. While their responsibilities are different, they work closely together to make sure elections run smoothly.

🗳 The County Election Commission is responsible for conducting and overseeing elections within the county. Their duties include:
• Establishing voting precincts and polling places
• Training and appointing poll workers
• Preparing ballots for elections
• Testing and securing voting equipment
• Conducting Logic & Accuracy testing
• Supervising Election Day operations
• Reviewing and certifying election results
• Maintaining voter records in accordance with state law

📋 The Circuit Clerk’s Office plays a vital role in supporting elections by handling several key administrative responsibilities such as:
• Processing voter registrations
• Assisting the Election Commission with maintaining voter registration records
• Printing voter ID cards
• Administering absentee voting
• Managing absentee ballots by mail
• Safeguarding election records

Together, these offices help ensure Mississippi elections are conducted with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Unofficial Election Results – Rankin County

Thank you to the voters of Rankin County who came out and made your voices heard in today’s election. Your participation is what keeps our democratic process strong.

The unofficial results for the March 10, 2026 Federal Primary Election are attached.

The Rankin County Election Commission would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the many people who worked behind the scenes to make this election possible.

For the past several months, the Election Commission has spent many late nights and long weekends preparing to ensure that Election Day ran smoothly for the voters of Rankin County.

We could not conduct this election—or any election—without the tremendous support of our partners and volunteers:

• Circuit Clerk and staff, who administered absentee voting for 45 days prior to the election, including two Saturday mornings, ensuring voters had every opportunity to cast their ballots.

• Our poll workers, who dedicated time to training and then worked long hours on Election Day to serve voters across the county.

• The Resolution Board, who carefully processed absentee ballots and spent a very late night at Election Central alongside the Election Commission processing both absentee and affidavit ballots.

We also want to give an extra special shout out to our guys in the Rankin County IT department! I don’t know what we would do without these very special individuals. One of them helps write our elections for our equipment and several of them help provide back up on election day for both the Election Commission and our Poll workers keeping our elections safe and secure for the people of Rankin County.

A number of affidavit ballots were cast due to voters not having a photo ID at the polls. Those voters will have time next week to return and provide proper identification so those ballots can be finalized.

Elections are truly a community effort, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make today possible for the voters of Rankin County.

These results are unofficial. Official results will be available sometime next week when the Election Commission meets to certify the election.

🇺🇸 A Historic Election Day for Rankin County! 🇺🇸

Tomorrow, March 10, Rankin County will make history by becoming the first county in the nation to conduct a full election using voting equipment that meets the VVSG 2.0 certification standards — the newest and most advanced federal guidelines for voting systems.

These updated standards focus on security, transparency, accessibility, and reliability, helping ensure that every vote is cast and counted with the highest level of confidence.

Currently, Hart InterCivic is the only voting system vendor in the country with equipment approved under the VVSG 2.0 certification — and Rankin County is proud to be the first in the nation to roll out the complete system for a full election.

We’re excited for voters to experience the new equipment and see firsthand the technology helping power our elections.

🗳️ Rankin County is ready for Election Day!

Today we held Public Logic & Accuracy (L&A) testing on our new voting equipment with our Circuit Clerk, Michelle Adcock, and several of her deputy clerks, and everything is working exactly as it should. ✅

⏰ Reminder: Tomorrow is the LAST chance to absentee vote in person.
