We’re Hiring: Seasonal Pump-Out Vessel Operator

East Shore Health District is hiring seasonal Pump-Out Vessel Operators for the 2026 boating season.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy being on the water, have boating experience, and want to help protect Long Island Sound. Our pump-out boat program provides an important environmental service by helping recreational boaters properly dispose of vessel waste and keep our coastal waters clean.

Operators will assist with pump-out services for recreational boats throughout the Shoreline Regional Pump-Out Boat Program service area.

Join our public health nurse, Stephanie for a discussion of the book "I am Not Okay" on Thursday. Free copies of the book are available at the Atwater Library!

Join East Shore Health District's Stephanie Schillat in discussing the graphic novel "I am Not Okay" by David Degrand.

Participants can pick up a FREE copy of the book at the Atwater Library starting TODAY. Copies and spots for the book discussion are limited and will be given on a first come first served basis.

The book discussion will take place Thursday, May 7th at 5:30 PM at Atwater Memorial Library.

The boating season has started! πŸ›₯🌊😎

ESHD runs the Shoreline Regional Pump-Out Boat program open to all recreational vessels along the shorelines of Guilford, Branford, East Haven, New Haven, and West Haven. The program runs Friday - Monday, 9 AM - 5 PM from May 1st through October 31st. Do your part to help keep our waters clean when you 'pump it, don't dump it'!
