Supporting Business in a Small Town
There has been some discussion about businesses closing in our small town. While it is always disappointing to see a business close, it is also important to remember that we have businesses in Branford that are doing well and continue to serve our community successfully.
The decision to open, operate, expand, or close a private business belongs to the individual business owner—not Town officials. Every business owner must decide whether an opportunity is right for them based on their own circumstances, costs, customers, and business plan.
Business opportunities exist in small towns just as they do in larger communities. Small towns can offer something especially valuable: loyal customers, community support, lower overhead in some cases, and the opportunity to build lasting relationships.
The Town welcomes individuals who want to invest in Branford, open a business, and become part of our community. At the same time, the success of any private business ultimately depends on many factors beyond the control of local government.
