Earlier today, members of Division 2 were dispatched to the area of Branford Point for a report of a goose possibly in distress and stuck in the ice.

Upon arrival, members deployed the department drone to assess the situation and confirmed that the goose was unable to free itself and appeared injured. Based on the assessment, two firefighters dressed into Ice Rescue suits and carefully navigated the icy conditions to reach the animal.

Firefighters safely removed the goose from the ice and confirmed it was injured and in need of care. Members remained on scene until Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter arrived and took possession of the goose to provide further medical treatment.

Great work by Division 2 demonstrating the commitment to protecting all members of our community — even our feathered ones. 👨‍🚒🪿

🚒 Public Safety Announcement – Adopt a Hydrant & Help Us Help You! ❄️

Thank you to our community for your incredible cooperation during this large winter storm. Your support truly makes a difference.

As snow continues to taper off— and with the potential for more in the coming days — we’re asking residents to please “Adopt a Hydrant” near your home or business. Taking a few minutes to clear snow and ice from fire hydrants gives firefighters immediate access to water during emergencies and can save valuable time when seconds matter.

✅ Clear a 3-foot radius around hydrants
✅ Create a path from the street
✅ Remove snow from hydrant caps and outlets

We also encourage everyone to continue using caution, avoid unnecessary travel when possible, and look out for neighbors who may need assistance.

We thank you for helping keep our community safe. Your teamwork during storms like this allows us to respond faster and more effectively when you need us most.

Stay safe — and thank you for being part of the solution. 🚨❄️

🚨 Weather Advisory – PSA 🚨

Due to accumulating snow and rapidly deteriorating road conditions, our apparatus have been placed in tire chains to ensure we can continue responding safely to emergencies.

Please know that we remain fully operational and available — we will respond to all emergencies, with safety as our top priority.

The heaviest snow bands are entering our area now, and travel conditions are becoming increasingly dangerous. We strongly urge all residents to:

❄️ Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary
❄️ Slow down and increase following distances if you must be on the road
❄️ Stay indoors and remain safe

📞 For all emergencies, call 911.

Additional staffing has been added to help manage increased call volumes during the storm.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to keep our community safe. Please take this storm seriously and look out for one another.

Stay safe!

🚨🚨🚨🚨Winter Storm Reminder🚨🚨🚨🚨

Big snow is on the way!
Help our firefighters help you—please take a few minutes to clear snow and ice from the fire hydrant near your home.

🚒 In an emergency, every second counts
❄️ A buried hydrant can slow our water supply
❤️ A little shoveling goes a long way for you and your neighbors

See a hydrant? Adopt it. Clear it.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe!

🚒🚒Home safety tips🚒🚒

With a large snowfall expected, please take a few minutes to check around your home before, during and after the storm.

✔️ Keep heating appliance and dryer vents clear of snow and ice
✔️ Blocked vents can cause carbon monoxide buildup
✔️ Make sure CO and smoke alarms are working

⚡ Using a generator?
• Never run generators indoors, in garages, or near windows/doors
• Keep generators at least 20 feet from the home
• Use outdoor-rated extension cords only

A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your family and neighbors safe.

Thank you for helping us keep you safe during the storm!

❄️🚒 Winter Reminder: Adopt-A-Hydrant 🚒❄️

After a snowstorm, fire hydrants can quickly become buried and hard to find. If it’s safe to do so, we ask residents to “adopt” a fire hydrant near their home and help keep it clear.

Please clear 3 feet on all sides of the hydrant and a path to the street. This simple act can save valuable time if the hydrant is needed during an emergency.

📸 If you happen to catch a hydrant being cleared, feel free to share a photo — it’s great to see neighbors helping keep the community safe.

Thank you for helping us help you.
