🌊 NOR’EASTER UPDATE — BRANFORD, CT

Models and meteorologists continue to track a coastal low pressure system off the East Coast. Persistent northeast winds, periods of rain, and high water levels along Long Island Sound will bring localized coastal impacts to Branford late Friday through Sunday.

🌧️ Rainfall: 1–2” expected across our area, with localized heavier downpours possible depending on how close the low tracks to the shoreline.

💨 Winds: Gusts building from 25–35 mph on Friday up to 40–45 mph along our waterfront, Branford Harbor, and the Thimble Islands corridor through Saturday.

🌊 Coastal Flooding & Tides: Prolonged northeast winds paired with high astronomical tides create the potential for minor to moderate low-lying coastal flooding. High tides to watch: Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday night. Take extra precautions around Short Beach, Stony Creek, Indian Neck, Meadow Street, and Parker Memorial Park.

⏱️ Timing: Showers begin moving in Friday morning, with the strongest winds and steady rain occurring late Friday through Saturday. Conditions are expected to begin drying out on Sunday as the system pulls away.

THE BOTTOM LINE: While this system remains offshore, onshore winds over multiple tide cycles mean shoreline flooding and choppy harbor conditions are the primary concerns.
