Town of Braselton water customers will be under a boil water advisory later today, Oct. 7, 2026.
Our water is not affected right now. Once the advisory is issued, please follow these steps until further notice:
- Bring tap water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, then let it cool before use.
- Boil your water even if you use a home or refrigerator filter.
- Use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking and preparing food, making ice, brushing teeth, cleaning toys or dishes, and giving water to pets.
- Tap water is fine for handwashing, bathing and showering, laundry, the dishwasher, and houseplants and gardens.
What happened: The Town of Braselton draws water from multiple sources, including the Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority. The Authority issued a boil water advisory today after pump failures at the Bear Creek Reservoir. Jackson County WSA shut off the supply to Braselton right away, so our water has not been affected yet.
The authority is refilling its lines and tank. When Braselton turns that supply back on today, we will issue the advisory as a precaution. It will stay in place until water quality tests confirm the water is safe. "We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep our water customers informed," Public Works Director Sandy Weinel said.
We will post updates as soon as the advisory takes effect and when it is lifted.

Customers on the Jackson County Water and Sewer Authority system are under a precautionary boil water advisory because of pump failures at the water source. Customers served by this system are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, ice making, and teeth brushing until further notice.
Boiling Instructions: Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute and allow it to cool before use. Ice made within the past hour should not be consumed. Water may be used for bathing and washing without boiling.
The Authority is monitoring the water system and will lift or revise this advisory as necessary. The advisory will be lifted after water quality tests confirm the water is safe.
