Please consider supporting the Community Asylum Seekers Project if you have the means! They provide support and community to asylum seekers in our area and this fundraiser - to onboard a new staff member - is an important step in empowering their critical work! Tomorrow 4/29 from 1-4 PM, Turning Point of Windham County will be hosting a workshop titled "Trading Discrimination for Dignity for People with Substance-Use Issues."

You can find a full description and RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/trading-discrimination-for-dignity-for-people-with-substance-use-issues-tickets-150794599707

Here is part of the description: People who live with substance-use issues know that discrimination interferes in numerous ways, disrupting efforts to access services and build communities of support. Discrimination means that people who have suffered harm in our systems suffer additional harm, up to including not seeking supports at all because of experiences that caused shame or other harm. How do we change perceptions? How do we change the conversation? How do we ensure that anyone can access needed services and be treated with dignity and compassion so they can thrive?

This workshop helps us explore this complicated topic and how discrimination (stigma) is present in our systems, our community, and our own individual biases. We discuss ways to transform our ideas and our community to ensure that everyone can receive compassionate care.

This training on discrimination related to substance use seeks to ensure that people get the help they need, with the dignity they deserve
