Happy new year from Team Tenney the folks working to save the grandstand! 2019 was our most productive year yet and we hope to build on that moving forward in 2020. We promise to continue working tirelessly behind the scenes fighting for everybody who cares about this historic structure as much as we do until we achieve our mission of the preservation, restoration, and reopening of the grandstand. The holiday season brought us a tremendous gift from Leif Bigelow, a letter to the school board advocating saving the grandstand. Leif is the most decorated Colonel & Post 5 ball player this area has seen in decades and is now part of the University of Connecticut baseball team. We read this letter at the most recent school board meeting. Watch it on the link below starting at the 3 hour 50 minute 40 second mark. Feel free to comment and share. Thank you for your continued support!

Big thank you again to Tom Haley of the Rutland Herald! Another great piece mentioning the Tenney grandstand and describing Brattleboro as a baseball town ⚾️ 🏟 💎

There are few springtime diversions, for my money, that are better than being by a baseball or softball diamond and charting the game in a scorebook.

Please do not mistake our recent silence on social media as a sign of us giving up, because it’s very much the opposite! Often times those who put their head down, keep their mouth shut and get to work see the best results. We have been working double time for all of you who care as deeply as us about saving this historical structure. Your continued support and mutual love for the Tenney grandstand is what drives us. Baseball is in the air and we can guarantee you we’re not going down without a fight! ⚾️

Attention:

The organizational meeting for the new unified school district has been cancelled due to the pending lawsuits against the forced mergers.

The BUHS #6 Budget meeting will now be held Wednesday, February 13th, NOT tomorrow, January 9th.

We still hope to see you there, and we thank you for your continued support.

Special thanks to Tom Haley of the Rutland Herald for writing this great piece on the Tenney Field Grandstand, giving our message a unique historical perspective it very much deserves! History runs deep with those grandstands and that is not lost on those who care about it most! Please take a minute to read this wonderfully written column. We will not quit fighting until we renovate, restore and reopen this iconic piece of Brattleboro history!

When Bob Godlewski was still the baseball coach at College of St. Joseph, he had a dream. It was to enhance the already gorgeous St. Peter’s Field with a covered

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

This is from Monday the 5ths school board meeting, where Team Tenney representatives Bill Christmas (executive board member) and Devin Rhodes (president/spokesperson), passionately delivered our message because we understand how many of you we represent and the overwhelming desire to keep these historic grandstands. Please watch it if you can (we begin at 40.35) and share our message! If you can’t watch it right now, to summarize, we began by reading aloud our revised proposal that the school board has failed to acknowledge for about 8 months. Next, we read aloud a letter we received by a former BUHS player and opposing coach. His letter speaks right to the heart of our message, explaining just how cherished these grandstands are to many former players and how without them, Tenney Field would be just another ho-hum ballpark. The discussion then went to us answering questions the school board had for us and explaining our position in further detail. After much back and forth the school board/finance committee agreed to continue talks and review our revised proposal. They made sure to reaffirm that the majority of the funds that will be needed to go towards the refurbishment that we’re proposing will have to come from our own donation/fundraising efforts. We are working with the finance committee to clarify the estimated expenses and timeframe for this project. We understand that it is difficult to get donations and sponsorships without having this information solidified first. That’s why when the time comes WE WILL NEED YOUR HELP! Once we are given the okay we will be going forward with a full head of steam towards our goal. Individual donations will certainly be helpful, but some of our fundraising ideas include Tenney Field grandstands t-shirts/alumni game/cornhole tournament. If you have any other ideas please feel free to comment and share! We thank you for your continued support and we promise to keep working hard toward this worthwhile endeavor!
