RED FLAG WARING

NO BURN ADVISORY

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has
issued a Red Flag Warning,

Shoal Creek fire protection district is issuing a NO burn advisory.

No outside burning

They said all burning outside should be avoided including brush piles, CRP/ felid burning, open fire pits and other activities that can create a large spark great enough to start a fire. With wind conditions the fires will spread very quickly.

Potential for strong to severe storms remains for Monday afternoon and into/through the evening and overnight hours. Now, for the afternoon/evening, the risk remains Then better chances for storms overnight, but lesser risk for them to be severe.

Okay, so what do we mean by

There's plenty of times where many of the ingredients for severe storms are in place, but something is missing, resulting in little to nothing happening. You may hear us or other meteorologists talk about things like a "cap," which often hinders storms in an otherwise favorable environment. For tomorrow, there is a cap to begin with, but it is expected to mostly erode/diminish by the mid-late afternoon. So what's the problem then? We're largely lacking something to "kick start" the storms, or forcing. But because it wouldn't take much forcing (there's a few small scale things that could do it), you see the risk outlined here and that has been mentioned for the last couple of days. Note though, that it has contracted a bit.

If a few storms get going in the afternoon to evening, they will The environment suggests potential for VERY large hail (think baseballs), damaging winds, and tornadoes.

We always want to inform as best we can. And as we gain confidence one way or the other, we aim to share it.

Into the overnight, a front does drop in from the north and would be the focus for storms overnight. Severe risk is not out of the question, but the peak potential will be much less than anything Monday afternoon/evening. Main risks would be hail and wind.
