The Brea Senior Center works to meet the social, recreational, and resource needs of Brea's seniors.

We are excited to announce that our very own instructor, Eunice, was awarded North Orange Continuing Education's Teacher of the Year! 🎉 Nominated by students, this award shows her extraordinary following among students. Eunice teaches two Health & Wellness classes at the Brea Senior Center and more classes at multiple community sites throughout North Orange County. Her students consistently praise her sense of humor, her individualized approach to meeting each student’s needs, and her truly contagious energy that brings joy and motivation into every classroom. A well-deserved congratulations to Eunice! 😊

This year, the Brea Senior Center Christmas Celebration continued to break records with our biggest party yet at 450 seniors in attendance! 🎉 Held at the stunning Brea Improv, seniors were able to enjoy coffee & pastries while socializing with all of their friends. Everyone loved dancing along to entertainment provided by Those Guys band before Reunion Kitchen + Drink served every senior, plus 50 volunteers, a delicious 3-course holiday meal. The celebration gained so much attention it was even featured in the Orange County Register local section on Monday, December 8.

Thanks to an incredibly generous donation from Dwight Manley, all 450 seniors were sent home with a special cash gift. On top of that, over 100 lucky seniors were awarded gift cards, thanks to donations from the Brea Firefighters Association (Brea Fire Department), Brea Police Association, Police Management Association, and Brea Korea Sister City Association.

This event would not be possible without support from the wonderful staff at Brea Improv and Reunion Kitchen + Drink, along with Brea Community Services staff, City Executives, City Council members and Commissioners. A huge thank you to Dwight Manley, Brea Improv, & Reunion Kitchen + Drink for working together to make Christmas extra special for our Brea seniors!

Join us on a fun trip down to the Carlsbad Flower Fields for the day! 🌷 While at the fields, you can explore all of their gardens, greenhouses, and mazes, and add on additional excursions like a tractor wagon ride ($8) or a Butterfly Encounter ($5). Once you’re done exploring the fields, stop for lunch at the Windmill Food Hall with choices like pizza, tacos, burgers, pasta, or Thai, you’re sure to find something tasty to enjoy! During Mayor Blair Stewart’s quarterly visit to the Senior Center, he had the opportunity to honor TWO of our Brea Senior Center centenarians who recently turned 100! 🎉 Lilia and Emerson, both Brea residents, are beloved and well-known Senior Center members who have been attending regularly for several years. Lilia is often seen joyfully dancing in her seat during our holiday parties, while Emerson is usually busy preparing the piano and joining in our Sing-a-Long group. Before getting the entire dining room to sing “Happy Birthday,” Mayor Stewart presented each of them with a certificate honoring the remarkable lives they’ve led. The Senior Center is grateful to have centenarians in our midst who serve as a reminder of the rich history and wisdom that our Brea seniors bring to the community! Happy Birthday Emerson & Lilia! ❤💯

After 14 years of dedicated service to our Brea Senior Center, Chef Francesco is stepping into a well-earned retirement. He leaves behind an incredible legacy, having served over 300,000 meals to our seniors. His commitment and heart of gold has touched countless lives, making him an invaluable part of our community. We extend our deepest gratitude and best wishes to Francesco!

🎄✨ Our 2024 Brea Senior Center Christmas Celebration was our BIGGEST and BEST yet, with 400 seniors in attendance! Held at the amazing Brea Improv, it was the perfect venue to host this festive occasion. The incredible STONE SOUL band kept everyone rockin', and Reunion Kitchen + Drink made sure every guest—along with 50 wonderful volunteers—enjoyed a delicious 3-course holiday meal.

Thanks to a generous donation from Dwight Manley, each senior received a special cash gift. And the fun didn’t stop there—over 100 lucky winners went home with gift cards, thanks to donations from the Brea Firefighters Association, Brea Police Association, Police Management Association, Brea Korea Sister City Association, and Bill & Margaret Higgins. 🎁

A huge thank you to Dwight Manley, Brea Improv, & Reunion Kitchen + Drink for bringing the best of Brea together and making this a Christmas to remember 🎅🏼 Let’s do it again next year!

Happy 42nd Birthday to the Brea Senior Center!!!! 🥳🎈The original building for the Brea Senior Center was built in 1909 and operated as the Olinda Schoolhouse. The Olinda Schoolhouse was then moved to a donated piece of land in the southwestern corner of Brea where it became utilized as a club for youth. Eventually, this club decreased and the one-time school building was completely modernized, painted in warm hues of mustard yellow and desert brown, and re-launched as the Brea Senior Center on October 25, 1982.

In addition to the Senior Center, the Women’s Clubhouse, also donated to the City of Brea in 1975, was moved to the same piece of land next to the Senior Center and was renamed Pioneer Hall to honor all Brea pioneers. A splendid patio with arched roof cover was constructed and linked the two buildings.

Where students once learned history and arithmetic, seniors now eat nutritious lunches, enjoy music classes and bunco, actively exercise with Zumba Gold, yoga, tai chi, balance, and longevity sticks, and have fun playing Bingo. Seminars dealing with health issues, insurance, financial awareness, and topics of interest to the seniors are offered monthly. Assistance with housing, transportation, and home-delivered meals are available. Travel excursions balance out the monthly calendar. Under the guidance of the City of Brea Community Services Department, the little green schoolhouse of Brea has come a long way, evolving from school to club to Senior Center. Here's to many more great years in Brea!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at our Flu Shot Clinic and Wellness Bag Distribution on Friday, September 20th! ❤

This year, due to parking lot construction, the event had to be scaled down with no health screenings or vendor booths available. However, in collaboration with Albertsons Pharmacy, we successfully offered Flu, RSV, Pneumonia, COVID, and Shingles vaccines to seniors from Brea and neighboring cities. Additionally, each participant received a Wellness Bag filled with valuable health resources and information, made possible by our generous community sponsors. We are grateful for everyone's patience and understanding during these adjustments and we are looking forward to returning the event to its full capacity!
