WEEKLY HUSKIE SPORTS RECAP: BRECKENRIDGE ATHLETICS (8/24 - 8/30)
From dominating performances on the gridiron and the golf course to impressive victories on the court, trail, and riding arena, Breckenridge Student-Athletes delivered an unforgettable week across every program. Varsity Football kicked off their season with a statement road win, Varsity Volleyball swept through early competition, Girls Golf brought home an invitational title, Cross Country found success in Gladwin, Equestrian crowned a District Champion, JV squads fought hard through tough matchups, and Sideline Cheer brought relentless energy to start the fall season strong.
Varsity Football: Huskies Silence Hatchets 35-6 in Opener
The Varsity Football team traveled to Bad Axe for their Week 1 matchup and put on a clinic, securing a decisive 35-6 victory over the Hatchets.

Carter Suhr: 13 carries, 87 yards, 1 TD
Ely Chapin: 14 receptions, 146 yards, 1 TD

Varsity Volleyball: Flawless Start to the Season
Varsity Volleyball went undefeated on the week, defeating Ithaca 3-1 before sweeping MSAC rival St. Charles (25-15, 27-25, 25-11).

Girls Golf: Chesaning Invitational Champions
Following a 7th place finish (out of 13) against larger schools at The Fields on 8/21, the Huskies dominated the Chesaning Invite on 8/24, taking 1st place! All six golfers placed in the top 11 overall.

Cross Country: Sweep Over Gladwin
Both the Boys and Girls XC teams earned victories over Gladwin—the boys winning by 3 points and the girls by 2.

Equestrian: Lauralei McGill Crowned District Champion
Countless hours of saddle time paid off as Lauralei McGill officially claimed the District 17 Division D Championship! Lauralei has qualified for Regionals and will hit the road to compete in Ludington.
Sideline Cheer: Bringing the Noise
The Sideline Cheer squad made the trip to Bad Axe, creating an electric atmosphere on the road. Their sharp routines and continuous energy kept the crowd locked in and propelled the football team to victory.
JV Football: Resilience on Home Turf
The JV Football team hosted Bad Axe for their home opener. Despite a 26-12 loss, the Huskies showed incredible grit and fought until the final whistle.
JV Volleyball: Earns 3rd Place Finish at Marlette
The JV team competed in an 8-team tournament at Marlette on Saturday. Battling through tough competition, the girls advanced to the semifinals, taking 3rd overall with a 2-3 record.
