We took a different scam call today. This one is where scammers pretend to be a bank (not your bank in fact, just a random bank) and then transfer you to someone claiming to be a police officer. They try to scare you by saying you’re under investigation or involved in human trafficking and ask for any kind of personal details like your date of birth or driver’s license — sometimes even telling you to download Microsoft Teams so you can meet with the prosecutor.

What you need to do and know if you get this call:

• HANG UP IMMEDIATELY!
• Do not give ANY personal information.
• Do not download any apps they request.
• Law enforcement will NEVER call you like this.

Just a friendly reminder that school starts this week!

As classes resume, please take a moment to refresh yourself on our local school‑zone safety rules.
Did you know the speed limit changes in school zones when school is in session?
• Breck Elementary (French St.): 15 mph when lights are flashing — fines double
• Upper Blue (Airport Road): 20 mph when lights are flashing — fines double

Please be extra cautious when traveling near Breck Elementary on French Street and Upper Blue on Airport Road.
Slow down, stop at crosswalks, and keep an eye out for small children, bikers, and walkers—especially during drop‑off (7:30 to 8:30am) and pick‑up times(3:15-4:15pm).
We want everyone to have a safe and positive start to the school year.

Summer always goes by too fast. Next week Wednesday, 8/19, starts the beginning of school for our Summit County School District.
Please remember a few important safety guidelines:
*Slow down in school zones
*Put your phone down and stay fully alert
*Stop for school buses from both directions that have their arm down and a flashing red light.
*Yield to crosswalks
*Be extra vigilant during drop off and pick up times
*Leave early to avoid traffic congestion and to ensure a good start to the day.

🚨🐻 BEAR ALERT! 🐻🚨
We had an unexpected hotel guest check in recently… and this one had a serious sweet tooth.
A bear broke into the Grand Timber Lodge here in Breckenridge. Luckily only some M&M’s were taken.
Breckenridge Officers were able to coax the bear back into the wilderness, and no animals or people were hurt!
Jokes aside, bears are active in the area, so please stay alert, secure food and trash, and never approach or feed a bear.
Stay safe and maybe hide the M&M’s. 🐻🍫
