We have been busy talking with people about wildfire preparedness! We've been at the Breck Town Party, Silverthorne First Friday with our partners, St John the Baptist Church, and an event with Gubernatorial Candidate Bennet.

What's our message? The most important thing a homeowner or renter can do to protect your home is the most local to your home! The first 5' around your home is critical and it should be non-combustible. NO wood mulch should touch any building.

We also took full advantage of the busy weekend and rolled out our new self-assessment guide which is included here and is on our website.

You never know what you’ll find in the copier room at the fire house!
EMS makes up a lot of what we do and EMS training happens everywhere.

This is a great example of two of our firefighters training with the Evac-U-Splint which is used to immobilize extremities.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to be proficient when it really matters!

It’s EMS Week! This year’s theme, Improving Outcomes Together, reflects the heart of what EMS is all about: collaboration, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the people we serve.

At RWB, we believe this theme aligns closely with one of our core visions: Pioneering Partnerships. Improving outcomes doesn’t happen alone. It takes strong relationships between EMS professionals, healthcare systems, community organizations, educators, and the public. When we work together, we create safer communities, stronger responders, and better patient care.

This spirit of collaboration was recently highlighted when CommonSpirit Emergency Department recognized Firefighter/Paramedic Ian McQueen and Firefighter/EMT Peter Beuth for going above and beyond in their care of patients this year. Their dedication, compassion, and professionalism reflect the values that make EMS such an essential part of community health and safety. We are incredibly proud of all of our providers for the impact they continue to make through their service.

We are also proud to serve alongside CommonSpirit and deeply appreciate this recognition during the annual EMS Week lunches. Opportunities like these remind us how important strong partnerships are in supporting responders and improving patient care across our region.

To all EMS professionals: thank you for your commitment, sacrifice, and compassion. Your work changes lives every day, and during EMS Week, we proudly celebrate all that you do.

You may have noticed but the Smokey signs are coming out of hibernation! The fire danger in Summit County is LOW this week and we are not in fire restrictions.

Just a reminder, all backyard campfires require a free permit. The application is on our website.

Today, we had the privilege of standing alongside Battalion Chief Skip Bergbauer’s family to celebrate a very special milestone, the graduation of his daughter, Nika.

Although Skip has been gone for five years, his impact, leadership, and friendship continue to be deeply felt throughout the fire service community. In his absence, members of Red, White & Blue Fire District and Local 4325 leadership, along with Chief Ryan Roberts of Front Range Fire Rescue and representatives from Summit Fire & EMS, were honored to stand in support of Nika and her family on this important day.

Nika, your dad would be incredibly proud of the person you’ve become and all that you’ve accomplished. Congratulations on your graduation and best wishes for the journey ahead as you attend Colorado State University to study zoology.
