Summit High School Safe After Bomb Threat Meant for New Jersey School

Summit County, Colo. (June 5, 2026) – Summit County Sheriff's Deputies confirmed no threat at Summit High School today after the school received a bomb threat targeting a Summit High School in New Jersey.

Just after 2:00 p.m. today, June 5th, Summit High School received a call stating there was a bomb at a Summit High School in New Jersey. Out of an abundance of caution, the Sheriff's Office and School District immediately worked together to ensure there was no threat to our local Summit High School. Deputies also notified the appropriate jurisdiction in New Jersey of the call.

Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons said, "School district officials did not hesitate and notified the on-duty school resource officer, who spearheaded the initial response, which included a search of the school. That is what he is there for, to respond immediately to any hint of a threat. We are so fortunate to have such a strong working relationship with our partners at the School District."

Today was the last day of school, and we wish all students and staff a fun and safe summer.
